Here Are The Best Bluebonnet Photo Spots In Austin This Year

The bluebonnet fields are beginning to bloom in earnest, and that means one thing to Central Texans: It’s photo time! If you’re wondering where to go for the perfect state flower photo op, look no further. Our friend Sarah of Sarah Siller Photography has done the scouting for you. She’s been on a weeks-long hunt for bluebonnets, tracking down the best fields in and around Austin.

Bluebonnet Fields in Austin

While a couple of Sarah’s favorite go-to locations are showing a sad bloom so far this year, she found ten Austin locations that look amazing right now. Check out her new photos from this week for inspiration, then read her tips for capturing beautiful bluebonnet photos.

  • Dell, 1 Dell Way, Round Rock. (Note: This is private property, so it is possible that you may be asked to leave.)

  • On Park Bend Dr., between St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and the Edgecreek Apartments, Austin.

Sarah’s Tips for Beautiful Bluebonnet Photos

  • Shoot during the golden hour — an hour after sunrise or an hour before sunset — or shoot with a cloudy sky or in open shade so the bright sun does not overpower your pictures or leave your subject squinting.
  • Always be on the lookout for Texas creatures like ants and snakes.
  • Most importantly, don’t forget to be in your pictures!

Bluebonnet Mini Sessions

If you’d like a helping hand with your bluebonnet photos, Sarah Siller Photography is offering spring mini sessions for just $175! Hi! I am looking for the best place to bring my kids up from Houston to take pictures. Can you tell me where and what month that is the best to get the best shots of the bluebonnets?

Hi Sherry! I’m the site’s editor, so I hope this helps. If I were you, I’d come to Austin in mid-to-late March, and stop by the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center. That’s located at 4801 La Crosse Ave, Austin, TX 78739. Happy bluebonnet hunting!
