Teen Cupcake Battle (Pflugerville) – Tuesday, March 28 at 6:00 p.m. Do you have awesome cupcake decorating skills? This is your chance to show off and prove you are the best cupcake decorator. The competition is limited to teens ages 12-18, but spectators of all ages are welcome. Registration will take place from 6:00-6:20 p.m. and the competition will begin at 6:30 pm. Teens will compete in teams of 2-3, with a maximum of 5 teams. The competition will include 3 rounds. Each round will be judged by library staff on a scale from 1-10. Two Guys on Your Head: Are We Conscious Automata? – Tuesday, March 28 from 6-8:00 p.m. In this exciting collaboration, the Elisabet Ney Museum teams up with KUT Radio to present Two Guys On Your Head, Dr. Art Markman and Dr. Bob Duke, UT professors whose weekly broadcast explores different aspects of human behavior and the brain. This discussion will consider the eternal question “Are We Conscious Automata?” as posed in an 1890s paper written by Edmund Montgomery, Elisabet Ney’s philosopher husband. Hosted by KUT’s Rebecca McInroy, the Two Guys will discuss the topic with the usual robust inquiry that has brought them on-air, podcast, and book fame. Made in Texas with Bion Tsang (RSVP) – Thursday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. Austin-based musician Bion Tsang celebrates 15 years of music-making in Austin with a one-night-only performance on the occasion of his newest CD, The Blue Rock Sessions. Tsang and special guests including acclaimed singer/songwriter Carrie Rodriguez and Luke Jacobs and pianist Cecilia Lo-Chien Kao will turn Austin City Hall into a concert hall for a pop-up concert featuring a selection of virtuoso miniatures for cello and piano.
