Anderson Terrace Pumpkin Patch
Monday through Friday, October 8 – 12 | from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Anderson Terrace, 11505 Anderson Mill Rd.
The Anderson Terrace Pumpkin Patch opens, with a full month of fun through October 31. Free to pose with the pumpkins and props for a photo. Pumpkin prices start as low as $2 with corn stalks and hay bales for sale, also. Fun for kids and furbabies. Visit anytime and enjoy a number of fun & free family-friendly activities.

Harvest of Fall Fun (Marble Falls)
Monday through Friday (Except Wednesday), October 8 – 9, 11 – 12 | from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. | Sweet Berry Farm, 1801 FM 1980, Marble Falls
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Closed all Wednesdays. Parking is FREE. The pumpkins and gourds are individually priced. Admission is FREE, but each activity has a fee. Activities include a hayride, corn maze, and pumpkin painting just to name a few. Payment by cash or check only. (Check the website for exact directions as GPS isn’t always accurate for this location.)

Harry Ransom Center Free Daily Exhibition Tours
Monday through Friday, October 8 – 12 | at 12 p.m. | Harry Ransom Center, 300 W. 21st St.
Experience the Harry Ransom Center with free daily exhibition tours. Visitors have the opportunity to see some of the Ransom Center’s renowned holdings in literature, art, photography, film, and the performing arts. In addition to these holdings, the current exhibition “Ed Ruscha: Archaeology and Romance” gives an unprecedented look into the creative process of Ed Ruscha, one of today’s most influential artists. Always on view are the Center’s rare, complete copy of the Gutenberg Bible and the Niepce Heliograph, one of the earliest photographs taken in a camera. Tours meet daily at noon, Thursdays at 6 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. No reservations required.


Monday Movie: Flatliners
Monday, October 8 | at 5 p.m. | APL Willie Mae Kirk Branch, 3101 Oak Springs Dr.
Join for a movie screening of Flatliners (2017). Watch and discover new films at the Austin Public Library.

Tales from Graves
Monday, October 8 | at 6:30 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez Rd.
A Literature Live! Production recommended for ages 3 and up.Three not so scary tales of monsters, mischief and mayhem. Written by master storyteller, Keith Graves, and reanimated by Literature Live! Free and open to the public

Snack Science!

Learn what body parts make up your circulatory system and how to keep it healthy through food and excercise. Learn through fun activities and then make (and eat!) a snack that feeds and strengthens their circulatory system. Space is limited so preregistration is required. Children may register for more than one week. PREREGISTER HERE or at the Central Library Children’s Desk. October 9: Your Circulatory System – Go with the Flow.

Jr. Chef Skills
Tuesday, October 9 | from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. | Lake Travis Community Library, 1938 Lohmans Crossing
Kids age 8 to 12 are invited to learn practical cooking skills in this hands-on class. This month you will make caramel apples and other spooky dishes. This program is limited to eight participants.

Family Board Game Night
Tuesday, October 9 | from 5:30 to 8 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez Rd.
Do you love playing board games? Then head to the Tuesday Family Board Game Night!Play modern and traditional family board games, including Quirkle, Battleship, Feed the Woozle, and Jenga! Test your skills with family and friends. Snacks provided. Program open to kids of all ages.

Free Storytime & Movement: The Ugly Duckling (ages 3 to 5)
Wednesday, October 10 | from 1 to 1:45 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez St.
Introduce your child to the joy of dance through the story of The Ugly Duckling. Experience this narrative journey as students are led through a series of movement and ballet-based activities that appeal to both girls and boys. The class is designed to enhance physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills through collaborative and cooperative games.

Wednesday Farmers’ Market at Mueller
Wednesday, October 10 | from 5 to 8 p.m. | Texas Farmer’s Market at Mueller, 4209 Airport Blvd. at the Browning Hangar
Make Mueller on Wednesdays your fave hang spot with friends or the fam. Perfect for an after work or after school wind down, TFM Mueller on Wed features 50 local food artisans, sustainable farmers and ranchers and craft beverages. Pack a blanket and picnic lakeside! Sip and stroll along Mueller Lake park under the shady trees beside the historic Browning Hangar. Take the kiddos for independent play in our play area, pony rides and other great family fun.

Pajama Storytime
Wednesday, October 10 | from 6:30 to 7 p.m. | APL St. John Branch, 7500 Blessing Ave.
Feel free to wear pajamas and bring your favorite stuffed animal to join for stories, songs, rhymes, games, and other activities. Program length varies. Recommended for ages 8 and under.

Family Craft Night

Join for Family Craft Night, where participants get to explore the different avenues of art and learn new techniques with a different, exciting project each month.  This month, they’re sculpting friendly ghosts. Recommended for age 7.

Science Under the Stars
Thursday, October 11 | from 7 to 9 p.m. | Brackenridge Field Laboratory, 2907 Lake Austin Blvd.
This month’s topic is The Social Lives of Arachnids. If you want to learn more about the variety of fascinating social behaviors displayed across this group of animals, head out to Science Under the Stars this October! Science Under the Stars is a free public outreach lecture series.

Grassy Thursday
Thursday, October 11 | from 7 to 10 p.m. | St. Elmo Brewing Co., 440 E St Elmo Rd.
Head over for one of the best free shows in Austin. Some of the top pickers around come play a THREE HOUR set at St Elmo every Thursday RAIN or SHINE! Couple that with good beer and hot food, and we have a recipe for a great night. Pet friendly outside.

Mondo Gallery Presents MARVEL STUDIOS: The First Ten Years
Friday, October 12 | from 5 to 10 p.m.| Mondo Gallery, 4115 Guadalupe St.
Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years is an epic celebration of the 20 films to date in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Featuring new contributions from some of Mondo’s most sought after artists as well as previously released pieces on display, the show promises to be one of the mightiest in Mondo Gallery history. The show kicks off with an opening night reception that’s free and open to the public. The opening night reception will be held Friday, October 12 from 5 to 10 p.m. Following the opening reception, the show will run during regular gallery hours (Tuesdays through Saturdays from 12 to 6 p.m.) until October 20. Additionally, there will be a special Family Day party on Saturday, October 13 from 110 a.m. to 12 p.m. which will include face painting, family photo ops, coffee and baked good, and more! Costumes are encouraged.

Movies on the Lawn (Bee Cave)
Friday, October 12 | from 6 to 9 p.m. | Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Blvd., Bee Cave
The City of Bee Cave Parks & Recreation is hosting a movie a lawn! Families can enjoy an evening outdoors as they get ready for Halloween in style with a complimentary screening of Hotel Transylvania 2. Guests may bring chairs or blankets to relax on the grassy lawn of the Hill Country Galleria’s Central Plaza and settle in for a flick. Complimentary popcorn will be provided by Cinemark for a limited amount of attendees so guests are encouraged to come early!

Ghostbusters Free Outdoor Screening
Friday, October 12 | from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at the Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening. Get there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards and cash accepted!). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated. Donations can be made electronically when RSVPing to this event. Dress in weather-appropriate clothing and don’t forget your flashlights and bug spray. They also recommend wearing closed-toe shoes.
