Creek Show
Monday — Friday, November 13 — 17 | from 6 to 10 p.m. | Waller Creek between 5th St and 8th St
Creek Show, now in its fourth year, spans nine nights and includes six spectacular light-based, site-specific art installations, which will be installed on Waller Creek between 5th and 8th Streets. The community is invited to walk along Waller Creek to view the art designed to bring attention to the future revitalization of Waller Creek and its transformation into a series of urban parks. Family-friendly activities will be held at the Sabine Tree deck from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening. Creek Show is FREE and open to the public. View complete schedule here.

Fresa’s Chicken al Carbon Thanksgiving Nominations
Monday — Thursday, November 13-16
The beloved local restaurant will again be accepting nominations of families and individuals here in Austin who are deserving of a FREE Thanksgiving meal from now until Thursday, November 16 at [email protected]. Fresa’s encourages all Austin residents who know someone down on their luck or experiencing hardships during the holidays to nominate that individual for a FREE Thanksgiving meal. Fresa’s will announce the three recipients of FREE Thanksgiving meals on November 17 after the nomination deadline closes.

Baby Bloomers: All About Shapes!

November is the perfect time to get into SHAPES! Early exposure to simple geometric shapes can greatly benefit children’s understanding of the world around them. Join us all month long as we wiggle, giggle, and explore together! Cost: Members $3 each / Non-Members $5 each. All people attending, regardless of age, must purchase a ticket. The program length can vary and focuses on the Sing and Play recommendations for early literacy which helps develops gross motor skills, listening skills, and social skills, while introducing new vocabulary. Recommended for ages 3-5. FREE!

Crafternoon

Drop by the library and make a craft while you search for books, movies, and music. They’ve got paper crafts, easy sewing, and more fun projects for the whole family. The library will provide the supplies; you provide the creativity. FREE!

Bow Wow Readers (Cedar Park)
Monday, November 13 at 4:30 p.m. | Cedar Park Public Library, 550 Discovery Blvd, Cedar Park
Kids in grades K-3 are invited to read to a certified Bow Wow Reading Dog. Practice your reading skills with Tex and read to him for 10-15 minutes. Registration starts at 3:30 p.m. on the day of the program. FREE!

Monday Night Jazz

Enjoy Jazz on the porch! Marco Antonio Santos (guitar), Don Gozzard (Drums), and Will Baroni (Upright Bass) are part of Project_Trio. All members are current students at the UT Jazz Program. The trio presents original music and rearrangements of Jazz standards in a contemporary vision. Improvisation, grooves, interaction, jazz, rock, Samba, guitar effects, and a lot of energy: all are part of Project_Trio. FREE!

Wednesday Night Live: Hula Hoop Performance + Lessons

Join us for Wednesday Night Live: Hula Hoop Performance + Lessons and enjoy a hula hoop performance by Nnedi Agbaroji. Nnedi has been hula hooping for more than 10 years and can perform with a regular hoops, LED hoops, and fire hoops. Along with dancing for the audience, Nnedi will be teaching the art of hula hooping to children and adult attendees. FREE!

Wednesday Night Star Party at UT

Mozart’s Christmas Light Show – Opening Night!
Friday, November 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. | Mozart’s Coffee Roasters, 3825 Lake Austin Blvd
Thousands of dazzling lights have been sculpted into giant iconic objects, custom-made in Greece, that evoke Austin’s culture and the Christmas season, including a dozen guitars, the State Capitol, and a tree filled with presents, plus, an audio-activated wall of lights. Thousands of other lights will be imaginatively strung in the trees, facades, and rooflines. All will be placed around Mozart’s lakeside deck. For refreshment, Mozart’s acclaimed coffee and hot chocolate can be purchased inside the coffee house and at kiosks outdoors. Special holiday goodies from Mozart’s bakery will also be available. High Points of the Show/Timing: The exhilarating high points of the show, super light-ups and live choral singing, will be spaced throughout the entire evening. Families can relax and arrive at any time to get their over-the-top dose of Christmas magic. Show is FREE!

Community Cinema: Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy a special screening of Beauty and the Beast. Come as early as 6:30 p.m. to explore Community First! Painter Hall Telescope Public Viewing

Geraldine’s 2nd “Birdday” Party
Friday, November 17 at 9 p.m. | Geraldine’s, 605 Davis St. (at the Hotel Van Zandt)
Named after famous former Rainey Street resident Geraldine the guinea fowl, Austin’s favorite contemporary eatery is celebrating their second anniversary with a special “Birdday” party. The celebration will feature individual sets and the first ever duet set from acclaimed Austin musicians Jackie Venson and Jai Malano. Geraldine’s will also be offering drink specials. The event is FREE and open to the public. Guests who attend the bash will receive a “Live at Geraldine’s” mixtape, featuring live recordings of the top performances over the past two years, and a sweet treat created by Executive Pastry Chef Yolanda Diaz.

Jaelyn was born and raised in Kansas, but she got to Texas as soon as she could! After a few years of youthful fun in Dallas, Jaelyn decided to make her passion her career and headed to west Texas to make it happen. There, she honed her musical chops while studying Commercial Music, and then headed straight for Austin to help keep it weird. Once here, she unexpectedly found her soul mate, and loves that her husband and two boys are now her biggest fans! Besides being a musician, Jaelyn also works as a corporate event planner, is a self-proclaimed “celebratory expert” and a long-time foodie.
