Fun Arts Exhibit (Cedar Park)

Somewhere between the noble realm of Fine Art and the mighty realm of Illustration, lies a curious little field that is coming to be known as Fun Art. Cedar Park Public Library hosts this Fun Arts Exhibit, proudly sponsored by FunArtsWorld.com and Texas Cartoonists – National Cartoonists Society Texas Chapter.

Faces of Barton Springs: An Interactive Installation Curated by Karen Kocher and Lauren Jaben
Monday, May 21 to Friday, May 25 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | The Historic Barton Springs Bathhouse, 2201 Barton Springs Rd.
Barton Springs Conservancy is pleased to announce the multi-media Faces of Barton Springs. This interactive installation celebrates the many communities who swim at the Springs. It features a photo montage of Barton Springs swimmers from all walks of life ranging from artists and athletes to scientists and spiritual seekers. Visitors are invited to create their own Barton Springs poems on our wall-size magnetic poetry tree, share a personal reflection or memory about Barton Springs on the community kiosk, and pose for a selfie with a life-sized vintage swimmer cut-out. The installation will also feature listening stations showcasing poetry, music, and other Springs-related lore.

Dancers Shape Hosts Free Fitness Series Pilates in the Park
Monday, May 21 | from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. | Dancers Shape, 13742 Bee Cave Pkwy.

With the arrival of warmer weather, it’s the perfect time to take your workout outside with Dancers Shape’s free four-week fitness series, Pilates in the Park. Beginning Monday, April 30 and taking place weekly, the studio will host a free mat Pilates class at Bee Cave Central Park next door to their new studio at Hill Country Indoor. Come for one class or all four full body, power-packed classes combining traditional elements of pilates, yoga, and barre into a quick paced flow on the mat.  The classes will focus on functional movement to build strength throughout the core while sculpting the most difficult trouble areas just in time for summer. Guests should bring their own mat, water, and full length towel. The group will meet under the pavilion at the park.

Republic Square Free Fitness Class: Yoga by Wild Heart Yoga
Monday, May 21| from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Republic Square, 422 Guadalupe St.
Republic Square will host four weeks of free group classes for National Physical Fitness Month in May. Four local fitness and wellness companies will participate, with each class focusing on a different type of workout including yoga, rowing, barre and strength training. The sessions are open to everyone, and kid-friendly activities will be available during the classes.

Read With a Ranger
Tuesday, May 22 | from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. | Zilker Caretaker Cottage, 2105 Andrew Zilker Rd.

You and your children are invited to story time with the Park Rangers. A Ranger will read a nature-based story and follow it up with a hands-on lesson about Leave No Trace and Responsible Recreation! The event will be held indoors if raining, or in the outdoor classroom if it is clear.

Free Zumbini! Classes
Tuesday, May 22 | from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. | Balance Dance Studios, 4544 S Lamar Blvd. #200

Welcome to Zumbini! Please wear comfortable clothes, feel free to bring water and snacks as needed for the little ones, and come to dance, sing, have fun and play! A Welcome Package will be provided to you along with the Volume I will be teaching for Spring Session: “Kalino Finds the Music”! Spring Session classes run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. They run for six weeks, skipping Memorial Day week (there will be no classes on May 29 and 31). Participants are welcomed to join for a free first class!

We Are Blood at Blues on the Green

We Are Blood, the sole provider of blood to Central Texas hospitals, returns to Blues on the Green this summer with We Are Blood’s Front Yard at Blues on the Green. Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel & Disney Free Art Show

Lucasfilm (Star Wars), Marvel, Disney International & Harry Potter Artist Christopher Clark is doing a national tour and will be in Austin painting live at a free art show to the public the weekend of May 25 through 27. Christopher is currently Lucasfilm’s #1 selling Fine Artist with George Lucas being one of his clients. Free Admission and attendees will receive a free 9″x11″ print. There will be a huge exhibit of Marvel, Harry Potter, Disney, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, & Game of Thrones artwork on display and available to purchase at affordable prices along with original oil on canvas paintings also available for purchase.Event is kid friendly and will include live music.

Frog and Toad Watch (Lockhart)

Discover the frogs and toads that call Lockhart State Park home! Learn how to identify common amphibians by sight and sound, and conduct a survey at a nearby pond! No experience needed! Recommended for ages 5. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult, free for children 12 & under).

The Incredibles Free Outdoor Screening

Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of The Incredibles. Get there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.

Psalm 19 Astronomy Society – May Sidewalk Astronomy

The next Psalm 19 Astronomy Society event will be on Friday May 25. You will look at the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter. Psalm 19 Astronomy Society is an educational sidewalk astronomy ministry with the mission to share the beauty and majesty of God’s universe through astronomy.
