Muslims in Academia Symposium (Georgetown)
Monday, March 4 | from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. | Southwestern University, 1001 E University Ave, Georgetown
An all-day symposium featuring student and faculty-led panels and keynote speech by nationally recognized historian Dr. Denise Spellberg, author of Thomas Jefferson’s Qur’an. It will feature a student-led panel on Muslim voices and a faculty-led Decolonizing our Curriculum panel. The symposium will bring together community activists, student leaders, and academics, and will offer a space for discussion about campus climate, inclusion, and equity in our curricula.

Monday Movies
Monday, March 4 | from 5 to 7 p.m. | Willie Mae Kirk Branch Library, 3101 Oak Springs Dr.

Preschool Storytime
Tuesday, March 5 | at 11 a.m. | Spicewood Springs Branch, APL, 8637 Spicewood Springs Rd.
Storytime for preschoolers aged 3-5 and their parents featuring stories, songs, fingerplays, rhymes, and crafts. Program length can vary. Please arrive a few minutes early to gain entrance. Note that in some locations, free tickets (available in the branch on the day of the program) will be required for admittance.

Scholz Garten’s Fat Tuesday Crawfish Boil
Tuesday, March 5 | from 5 to 10 p.m. | Scholz Garten, 1607 San Jacinto Blvd
Scholz Garten will be hosting a Fat Tuesday Crawfish Boil celebration and will feature live music from Charles Thibodeaux and The Cajun Aces from 6 – 7:30pm. and  DJ Island Time from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The evening will include $5 Abita Beer & $8 Hurricane Specials. The event is free to attend and is dog and family friendly.

The UMLAUF Presents: James Surls With Out, With In
Tuesday, March 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. | UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum, 605 Azie Morton Rd.
The UMLAUF Sculpture Garden & Museum is hosting its March exhibition, James Surls: With Out, With In on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. More than 30 major sculptures, dating back from 1989 to the present, will fill the UMLAUF’s gallery, terrace and garden. With Out, With In features iconic, surrealistic wooden works, as well as Surls’ well-known giant steel and bronze structures. Despite Surls’ longtime status as one of America’s preeminent sculptors, this will be his first-ever solo exhibition of sculptures in Austin. This event is free and open to the public.

Video Game Coding Workshop
Wednesday, March 6 from 3 to 5 p.m. | Austin Public Library – Carver Branch, 1161 Angelina St.
Tweens and teens ages 11-15 are invited to learn how to code their very own mobile video game in the five-part workshop series! This workshop is perfect for tweens and teens interested in pursuing a career in video game design or asking real life professional game developers questions.

LL Campbell Elementary 80th Birthday Celebration
Wednesday, March 6 | from 6 to 8 p.m. | Lee Lewis Campbell Elementary Media and Performing Arts Institute, 2613 Rogers Ave.
80th Birthday Celebration! Join us as we celebrate 80 years of teaching and learning. This event aims to bring LL Campbell alum and current families together for a red carpet affair. Full Steam Ahead (Buda)

Full STEAM Ahead is coming this way! Children ages 4-10 will enjoy this event with science experiments, maker activities, building challenges, art projects, and more! Join us for this fun, free, family event on Thursday, March 7. No registration required.

Grassy Thursday
Thursday, March 7 | from 7 to 10 p.m. | St. Elmo Brewing Company, 440 E Saint Elmo Rd.
Join Austin’s top pickers for a weekly serenade. Who will show up nobody knows as each week the band consists of different pickers. Pair with a cold brew and some Hot Soursop and Thursday will be one for the books. Event is always FREE and ALL ages. Rain or shine. Please no outside food or drink.

Rodeo Austin Cowboy Breakfast
Friday, March 8 | from 6 to 8 a.m. | Long Center, 701 W Riverside Dr.
The Cowboy Breakfast is a super-sized Texas breakfast that kicks off the Fair and Rodeo. Come enjoy pancakes, authentic chuck wagon biscuits, doughnuts, brisket tacos and more at this FREE event. Featuring western-themed entertainment, live music, world-renowned trick roper, a longhorn, and two-stepping lessons. The Cowboy Breakfast is fun for all ages.

Bohemian Rhapsody Free Outdoor Screening
Friday, March 8 | from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Community Cinema & Amphitheater, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at our Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening. Explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards and cash accepted!). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.

Joe Nick Patoski Signing for “Austin to ATX” 
Friday, March 8 | from 7 to 8 p.m. | Waterloo Records, 600 N Lamar Blvd. Ste. A 
Joe Nick Patoski, renowned Texas writer, announces a book signing in celebration of his recently released tenth title, “Austin to ATX: The Hippies, Pickers, Slackers, and Geeks Who Transformed the Capital of Texas.” Patoski will talk and sign “Austin to ATX” at Waterloo Records on Friday, kicking off South By Southwest’s opening weekend, with complimentary Still Austin Whiskey served to guests 21 and over.
