Fun Arts Exhibit (Cedar Park)

Somewhere between the noble realm of Fine Art and the mighty realm of Illustration, lies a curious little field that is coming to be known as Fun Art. Cedar Park Public Library hosts this Fun Arts Exhibit, proudly sponsored by FunArtsWorld.com and Texas Cartoonists – National Cartoonists Society Texas Chapter.

Faces of Barton Springs: An Interactive Installation Curated by Karen Kocher and Lauren Jaben
Monday, June 11 to Friday, June 15 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | The Historic Barton Springs Bathhouse, 2201 Barton Springs Rd.
Barton Springs Conservancy is pleased to announce the multi-media Faces of Barton Springs. This interactive installation celebrates the many communities who swim at the Springs. It features a photo montage of Barton Springs swimmers from all walks of life ranging from artists and athletes to scientists and spiritual seekers. Visitors are invited to create their own Barton Springs poems on our wall-size magnetic poetry tree, share a personal reflection or memory about Barton Springs on the community kiosk, and pose for a selfie with a life-sized vintage swimmer cut-out. The installation will also feature listening stations showcasing poetry, music, and other Springs-related lore.

Rangerace Construction Camp
Tuesday, June 11 to Friday, June 15 | from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. | Driveway Austin, 8400 Delwau Rd.
This fun and educational construction camp is free (with a refundable $50 application fee) to qualified young adults between the ages of 13 to 15. The camp features two five-day sessions this year: June 11 to June 15; and June 18 to June 23. Lunch and snacks will be provided daily. Over the course of five days, each camper will be given the opportunity to explore construction-related careers with professionals, while helping to build a personal foundation for excellence.

Sunlight, Water and Texas Magic
Tuesday, June 12 to Friday, June 15 | from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Old Bakery & Emporium, 1006 Congress Ave.
Sunlight, Water and Texas Magic brings together three intense artists. Dwight Casey seeks to capture nature’s magic palette. Michael Smith explores the mystical poetry written by sunlight on water. Bob Coffee will honor us with his bronze art of our beloved Texas animals and wildlife. Exhibit runs through July 3.

Pints & Poses
Monday, June 11 | from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Hyatt Regency Austin, 208 Barton Springs Rd.
Hyatt Regency Austin, located on the shores of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, hosts Pints & Poses which will include complimentary yoga and a yoga DJ playing meditative and relaxing music. Following the class, participants will receive a coupon for a complimentary beer. The coupon can be redeemed at a pop-up bar which will be stationed on the hotel’s Southwest Bistro restaurant, which is located near the foyer area of the Texas Ballroom.

Austin ISD Libraries are giving away free books this summer in our neighborhood. This is a free opportunity so they want to see as many children as possible. All children, babies through 18 year olds are welcome to come by. It doesn’t matter what school or district they belong to.

Summer Kids Series

The youngest animal lover in your life has more reason to celebrate this summer, as our Summer Kids Series gets underway. 2018 marks six years for the family favorite that allows kids to get hands on as they learn more about the world of animals and the Austin Humane Society. Summer Kids Series kicks off on June 5th and wraps on August 14th. Today’s session is Austin Wildlife Rescue: All about Wildlife for ages 8 and younger.

 We Are Blood at Blues on the Green

We Are Blood, the sole provider of blood to Central Texas hospitals, returns to Blues on the Green this summer with We Are Blood’s Front Yard at Blues on the Green. Concert-goers can enjoy water bottle refilling stations, photos in front of the Wall O’ Records, doggie pools, seating areas, yard games and more. Plus, escape the heat and lounge in the air-conditioned Bloodstream trailer!

Teen Night After Hours (Pflugerville)

It’s the height of the roaring ‘20s and Mr. Bartholomew Boddy has accumulated more than his fair share of wealth. He has stolen, blackmailed, cheated, and lied—and now he’s dead. Teens are invited to help solve the crime at this Clue-themed mystery scavenger hunt. This event is open to teens ages 12-18 and takes place after the library closes. Parents of participating teens may accompany their teen, but must stay with their teen at all times or wait in the Great Hall. Younger siblings are not permitted. Snacks will be provided while they last.

Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screeningGet there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
