Faces of Barton Springs: An Interactive Installation Curated by Karen Kocher and Lauren Jaben
Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | The Historic Barton Springs Bathhouse, 2201 Barton Springs Rd.
Barton Springs Conservancy is pleased to announce the multi-media Faces of Barton Springs. This interactive installation celebrates the many communities who swim at the Springs. It features a photo montage of Barton Springs swimmers from all walks of life ranging from artists and athletes to scientists and spiritual seekers. Visitors are invited to create their own Barton Springs poems on our wall-size magnetic poetry tree, share a personal reflection or memory about Barton Springs on the community kiosk, and pose for a selfie with a life-sized vintage swimmer cut-out. The installation will also feature listening stations showcasing poetry, music, and other Springs-related lore.

We Are Blood Movie Encounters of the Free Kind
Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27 | All Day | We Are Blood, 4300 North Lamar
The most popular partnership of all is back! This July, anyone who donates, or attempts to donate, at a We Are Blood donor center or mobile drive will leave with a FREE Alamo Drafthouse movie pass. Hot Town
Tuesday, July 24 to Friday, July 27 | from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Old Bakery and Emporium, 1006 Congress Ave.
The wonderful cosigners at Old Bakery and Emporium will present you with 2D and 3D art with ‘Hot Town” in mind. This is a fun and eclectic exhibit right in step with keeping up with the latest trends.

Eresources for Kids (Pflugerville)
Monday, July 23 | from 4 to 4:45 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville
Kids 5 to 8 years old will explore different electronic resources available to them through the Library. They will also become familiar with some free online support websites for their age. Every child will need to bring their own headset or ear phones. A parent must attend with every child. Space is limited. Online registration will open at 10 a.m. the day of the program.

Summer Family Craft Night (Pflugerville)
Monday, July 23 | from 6 to 6:45 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville
Families with children, age 5 and up, will work on a different project every week. Materials available while supplies last.   First come, first served. This week’s project is a Sun Catcher Mobile.

Summer Kid Series

The youngest animal lover in your life has more reason to celebrate this summer, as our Summer Kids Series gets underway. 2018 marks six years for the family favorite that allows kids to get hands on as they learn more about the world of animals and the Austin Humane Society. Along the way they’ll find out what it means to care for a pet of their own and be inspired to help animals in need. This session is Humane Hero Hour and is for ages 8 and younger.

Join for a FREE baby play time at Toybrary Austin every Tuesday afternoon. Babies must be 1 mo. to 6 mos. to participate.

Texas A&M Chemistry Road Show (Pflugerville)
Tuesday, July 24 | from 2 to 2:45 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville
Texas A & M Chemistry Road Show is a public service program that entertains and educates using sensory impact. During the rest of the show, audience members see chemical wonders that turn ordinary objects and events into exciting learning experiences. They see a reaction that changes color from clear, to brown, to purple and then clear again, in a repeating cycle; a genie that emerges from a bottle; iron that burns as brightly as the sun; and a pinch of dry powder that instantly solidifies a cup full of water. All ages are welcome. Space is limited.  First come, first served.

Will Parker Kids Concert
Tuesday, July 24 | from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Wells Branch Community Library, 15001 Wells Port Dr.
Will Parker is a musician for kids “ages of 1 to 100.” During Will’s whimsical and interactive shows, he plays guitar and harmonica and sings songs that open us up to the world of imagination. Austin Symphony Children’s Day Art Park
Wednesday, July 25 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez St.
An Austin tradition comes to the Central Library. Recommended for ages 5-10. For over 30 years, the Austin Symphony has offered these public concerts and arts experiences for families with children. Kids can touch and try to play orchestral instruments at the Instrument Zoo. Then enjoy classic and original children’s tales brought to life through music.

Return to Wonderland – Free Family Friendly Tiny Festival (Lakeway)
Wednesday, July 25 | from 12:15 to 7:15 p.m. | Serrano Sanctuary in Hudson Bend, 5106 Serrano Trail, Lakeway
Join for a fun day outside playing at the Serrano Sanctuary in Hudson Bend, near Lakeway. Unicorn sprinkler included. All ages. Family friendly event. This is a tiny festival celebrating the Day Out of Time. There will be high vibe conscious vendors showcasing Yoga, sound healing, Intuitive ink drawings, high vibe facials, curiosities, dream interpretation, intuitive henna, tai chi, akashic record readings, face painting, love cards and crystals, bio optic holography readings, juices, kombucha, baked goods, 5d artwork, galactic education station, and more! Oh those summer nights! In partnership with the Alamo Drafthouse and Do512, grab your friends and family and experience the cool vibes of Sound & Cinema on the Long Center’s front lawn—live and local music combined with classic movies and cult films projected onto the Drafthouse’s giant, inflatable outdoor screen. For each event, food trucks will open at 6 p.m., music begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by the film screening after sunset.

Dog Days of Summer

The dog days are upon us so Austin Parks Foundation has partnered with Texas Rowing Center to host Dog Days every Thursday from July 26 to August 23! 50% of proceeds from each day will go back to Austin Parks Foundation, so head out on the water with your pup while also giving back to Austin’s parks. There are a limited number of doggy life vests available, so bring your own if you have one!

Hand Sewing for Kids (Pflugerville)

Recommended for boys and girls ages 7 to 10. Kids will complete a different hand sewing project applying basic hand sewing skills every week. Materials will be provided to make a finger puppet. Registration is required. Online registration opens 24 hours before the program.

60th Anniversary Zilker Summer Musical: All Shook Up

This summer, ZTP journeys back to the 1950’s — the era of the first Zilker Summer Musical — with the Elvis-inspired All Shook Up! And it wouldn’t be a true Elvis-style party without some blue suede shoes. All Shook Up, set in 1950’s Middle America, is a new twist on on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The ZTP Team can’t wait to share this toe-tapping, hip-shaking musical comedy – featuring 24 Elvis hits – as well as lots of laughs, love songs and leather jackets. 101X Summer Cinema: The Incredibles

101X will be showing movie favorites on a giant inflatable screen in the park. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, pets, families, neighbors, distant cousins and so on for a night on the town! Songs for Seeds Concert

Dance the morning away with your little one at a free Songs for Seeds concert! Join for a free demo class. This weekly, 45 minute, interactive class encourages children, newborn to 6 years old, to sing, dance and play along with a live, three-piece band.  Kids rock out with children’s instruments, as well as real drums, guitars, keyboards and instruments from around the world.  Our teacher/musicians take students on a musical journey each week through a series of seven engaging activities. Your kids will experience music and language from  cultures around the globe, help create magnetic art murals during a sing-along of well-known nursery rhymes, be amazed and delighted by magic tricks that are used to practice numbers and counting and get fully engaged in a wheel spinning game that reinforces the names and sounds of animals.
