Faces of Barton Springs: An Interactive Installation Curated by Karen Kocher and Lauren Jaben
Monday, July 16 to Friday, July 20 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | The Historic Barton Springs Bathhouse, 2201 Barton Springs Rd.
Barton Springs Conservancy is pleased to announce the multi-media Faces of Barton Springs. This interactive installation celebrates the many communities who swim at the Springs. It features a photo montage of Barton Springs swimmers from all walks of life ranging from artists and athletes to scientists and spiritual seekers. Visitors are invited to create their own Barton Springs poems on our wall-size magnetic poetry tree, share a personal reflection or memory about Barton Springs on the community kiosk, and pose for a selfie with a life-sized vintage swimmer cut-out. The installation will also feature listening stations showcasing poetry, music, and other Springs-related lore.

We Are Blood Movie Encounters of the Free Kind
Monday, July 16 to Friday, July 20 | All Day | We Are Blood, 4300 North Lamar
The most popular partnership of all is back! This July, anyone who donates, or attempts to donate, at a We Are Blood donor center or mobile drive will leave with a FREE Alamo Drafthouse movie pass. By appointment only, though! Email [email protected] if you have any questions or want to make an appointment.

KIDCON 2018
Monday, July 16 to Thursday, July 19 | from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Shoreline Church, 15201 Burnet Rd.
KIDCON 2018: “It’s About Time!” is an epic, city-wide event for children 4-12 years old that is completely FREE.  During this year’s conference, they are going back in time to a biblical Jerusalem to discover how God has empowered us to conquer our problems and share His love with the world. They will have creative, age-appropriate teachings, engaging social interactions, yummy snacks, entertaining characters, and exciting praise and worship to allow for an unforgettable experience with God. On the last day of the conference they’re having a BIG Celebration Rally at 6:30 p.m. to share this experience as a family. They will be taking over the main sanctuary and giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what your children have learned and experienced over this incredible week.

Hot Town
Tuesday, July 17 to Friday, July 20 | from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Old Bakery and Emporium, 1006 Congress Ave.
The wonderful cosigners at Old Bakery and Emporium will present you with 2D and 3D art with ‘Hot Town” in mind. This is a fun and eclectic exhibit right in step with keeping up with the latest trends.

Eresources for Kids (Pflugerville)
Monday, July 16 | from 4 to 4:45 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville
Kids 5 to 8 years old will explore different electronic resources available to them through the Library. They will also become familiar with some free online support websites for their age. Every child will need to bring their own headset or ear phones. A parent must attend with every child. Space is limited. Online registration will open at 10 a.m. the day of the program.

Summer Family Craft Night (Pflugerville)
Monday, July 16 | from 6 to 6:45 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville
Families with children, age 5 and up, will work on a different project every week. Materials available while supplies last.   First come, first served. This week’s project is a Sun Catcher Mobile.

Mozart’s Monday Christian Music Nights

Have your spirits lifted by good energy musicians. Advertised on 88.1 The Candle as Austin’s longest standing family friendly residency, Susanna Lee is happy to be back playing with beautiful duo Tully: John Wilson, and Marla Buonodono. Guest musicians: Curtis Wyman bass, Erv Valle percussion & many more! Come for the atmosphere, come for the coffee and desserts, and come for the music! Summer Kid Series

The youngest animal lover in your life has more reason to celebrate this summer, as our Summer Kids Series gets underway. 2018 marks six years for the family favorite that allows kids to get hands on as they learn more about the world of animals and the Austin Humane Society. Along the way they’ll find out what it means to care for a pet of their own and be inspired to help animals in need. This session is about Austin Wildlife Rescue and is for ages 8 and younger.

Make it Tuesdays: Artful Writing

Join Austin Public Library Foundation’s Badgerdog Creative Writing Program in Comanche Motion: The Art of Eric Tippeconnic exhibit and let the art inspire you to write. At Make It Tuesdays, create, invent, and make things happen with a  guided experience for the whole family. Drop-in anytime between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at these programs that are FREE for members or with Museum admission.

Free Baby Playtime at Toybrary (For 1-6 months old)

Austin Symphony Children’s Day Art Park
Wednesday, July 18 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez St.
An Austin tradition comes to the Central Library. Recommended for ages 5-10. For over 30 years, the Austin Symphony has offered these public concerts and arts experiences for families with children. Kids can touch and try to play orchestral instruments at the Instrument Zoo. Then enjoy classic and original children’s tales brought to life through music.

Kids 5-8 Club Origami Workshop (Pflugerville)
Wednesday, July 18 | from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville
Children 5 to 8 will enjoy a series of fun workshops this summer. This program is recommended for children 5 to 8 years old with a parent/caregiver. Materials are provided while supplies last. Space is limited.  First come, first served. This week’s activity is Code & Go™ Robot Mouse Workshop.

We are Blood at Blues on the Green

We Are Blood, the sole provider of blood to Central Texas hospitals, returns to Blues on the Green this summer with We Are Blood’s Front Yard at Blues on the Green. Concert-goers can enjoy water bottle refilling stations, photos in front of the Wall O’ Records, doggie pools, seating areas, yard games and more. Plus, escape the heat and lounge in the air-conditioned Bloodstream trailer!

Hand Sewing for Kids (Pflugerville)

Recommended for boys and girls ages 7 to 10. Kids will complete a different hand sewing project applying basic hand sewing skills every week. Materials will be provided to make a finger puppet. Registration is required. Online registration opens 24 hours before the program.

Exploring Movement Through Hoopment
Thursday, July 19 | from 1 to 2 p.m. | Luna Studio at Sol Healing & Wellness Center, 13805 Ann Pl.

Hoopment is the practice of allowing mini-hoops to guide our bodies through space–stretching our muscles and connective tissues, lubricating our joints, and increasing core strength and stability; while also serving as a moving meditation/mindfulness training. Mini-hoops are easily made, and a fun project for kids; instructions are available on the Hoopment website.  Plus, hoops float, making them excellent water implements for aquatic fun! This is a weekly community event, for parents/guardians & kids 12 and up. Gratitude gifts are appreciated.

60th Anniversary Zilker Summer Musical: All Shook Up

This summer, ZTP journeys back to the 1950’s — the era of the first Zilker Summer Musical — with the Elvis-inspired All Shook Up! And it wouldn’t be a true Elvis-style party without some blue suede shoes. All Shook Up, set in 1950’s Middle America, is a new twist on on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. The ZTP Team can’t wait to share this toe-tapping, hip-shaking musical comedy – featuring 24 Elvis hits – as well as lots of laughs, love songs and leather jackets. Free admission.

KIDZ Zone Live

KIdz Zone is bringing Kidz Church to you LIVE & UPCLOSE! Parent and student participation is HIGHLY encouraged. There will be games, door prizes, object lessons, illusions, maybe some pie-throwing as well. It’s a week-long VBS wrapped up in ONE NIGHT! If you get there early (5:30-6:30) there will be a light dinner provided, FREE of charge. Come one, come ALL! First 20 kids to sign up will receive a special prize! Bring your non-perishable food items with you. They are accepting donations for our JLG Food Pantry.

City of Georgetown Sunset Movie Series (Georgetown)

Grab a blanket or some chairs and enjoy a movie under the stars! Georgetown Parks and Recreation hosts films at the soccer fields in San Gabriel Park, located behind the Creative Playscape. This is a free community event. The movie starts at sunset. Arive early for free popcorn along with some fun and games, starting at 7:30 p.m. Free parking is available at the Georgetown Recreation Center.

Wall-E Free Outdoor Screening

Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screeningGet there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
