Maker Zone: Watercolor Tiles & Rockets
Monday, July 15 | from 2 to 4 p.m. | Austin Public Library Little Walnut Creek, 835 W. Rundberg Ln.
All ages welcome. Step into the Maker Zone, a two-part makerspace series to include a variety of hands-on makerspace activities. Come one day or both to learn, create, build and explore. The choice is yours! Sharpie Watercolor Tile – Find your inner artist and create a collage or a coaster for your favorite drink at this makerspace event. Each tile turns into a unique piece of artwork that looks shockingly good. A great project for all ages! Shot Rockets – Get ready, aim, and launch in this makerspace event. Create “STEMulating,” high-flying fun with the slingshot rocket. Practice taking long shots & high shots. Recommend for ages 7 and up.

Summer Cinema: Thor Ragnarok
Monday, July 15 | from 3 to 5:30 p.m. | University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Ln.
Join for a movie screening. Watch and discover new films at the Austin Public Library. Thor is imprisoned on the planet Sakaar, and must race against time to return to Asgard and stop Ragnarök, the destruction of his world, at the hands of the powerful and ruthless villain Hela, who happens to be his elder sister.

Tech Playground – 5 to 10 Years (Pflugerville)
Monday, July 15 | from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W Pfluger St., Pflugerville
Spend the evening indoors working on a different project every week.  Everyone gets his or her own craft. Supplies are limited. Free tickets for the event will be available at the Greeter Desk 30 minutes before the program start time. For families with children 5 and up.

Family Craft Night (Pflugerville)
Monday, July 15 | from 6 to 6:45 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville

Summer Kids Series at Austin Humane Society
Tuesday, July 16 | from 10 to 11 a.m. | Austin Humane Society, 124 W. Anderson Lane
Central Texas is brimming with wildlife. Who better to help your kids explore than our friends at the Austin Wildlife Rescue. We’re teaming up to bring the wild to you! Your young explorers will learn all about baby animals, what to do if you see them, and how they live in the wild. Plus, we’ll have a special guest on hand…Tito the Tortoise! This session is recommended for children 8 and younger.

Scratch Coding Game Workshop
Tuesday, July 16 | from 4 to 5:30 p.m. | University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Ln.
Come learn how to design a simple video game using free,  drag-and-drop Scratch programming language.  Make a chase game, clicker game, or pong game. Lets learn and create together! Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Summer Bluegrass Series
Tuesday, July 16 | from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Sour Duck Market, 1814 E. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.
Sour Duck Market has launched an ongoing Bluegrass series this summer with The Central Texas Bluegrass Association on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.! Sour Duck Market will welcome duos and trios, and all types of Bluegrass music (progressive, weird, and beyond). There is no cover and this series is family friendly!

Summer Sunset Series
Tuesday, July 16| from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Republic Square, 422 Guadalupe St.
Join for Summer Sunset Series 2019, presented by Topo Chico and sponsored by Outdoor Voices, in Republic Square. An hour vinyasa flow led by a Wanderlust Yoga Austin instructor and accompanied by a live musician or DJ. We hope to build a connection through the activation of yoga, music and community. This free event will be open to the public and catered to all levels of yoga experience. Every Tuesday this summer.


Austin Symphony Children’s Day Art Park

If you’re looking for something cool and exciting and FREE to do with you little ones this summer, the Austin Symphony Children’s Day Art Park has you covered! After hitting the refresh button last season, we will continue to present our summer fun in our brand new exciting location! We will have all the exciting activities and musical guest as before, but in a cool (literally) setting. That’s not all! We will have three encore performances at three different locations: Gustavo “Gus” Garcia Recreation Center, Old Quarry Branch and Milwood Branch Libraries! Come join your Austin Symphony Orchestra and Master of Ceremonies, Bernadette Nason, this summer!

Matt Tardy Juggling Show
Wednesday, July 17| at 2 and 3:30 p.m. | Pflugerville Public Library, 1008 W. Pfluger St., Pflugerville

This high-energy show is filled with world-class juggling, amazing feats of strength and flexibility, and hilarious audience interaction. Great for the entire family! With over 24 years of experience, Matt’s professionalism and remarkable ability to engage an audience is a rare find in Central Texas. Space is limited.  Free tickets for the event will be available at the Greeter Desk 30 minutes before the program starts. There is a repeat of the one at 3:30 pm. Pick your favorite time.

Blues on the Green
Wednesday, July 17 | at 8 p.m. | Zilker Park, 2100 Barton Springs Rd.
Austin’s favorite summer tradition is back for it’s 29th season! ACL Radio’s Blues on the Green invites music lovers out to Zilker Park to enjoy a family and pet friendly night of homegrown music in a relaxed atmosphere. Grab your family, friends, dogs, and blankets, and join us for Austin’s largest FREE concert series! This month’s artist is Ben Kweller.


Summer Kids Series at Austin Humane Society: Outdoor Movie Night Sing
Thursday, July 18| from 7:30 to 10 p.m. | Austin Humane Society, 124 W. Anderson Lane
Grab your picnic basket and load up your pack for a family-friendly movie night at the Austin Humane Society. These once a month events will feature an animal-themed movie fit for the entire family. Plus, we’ll have concessions, games, and kid’s activities, too. Movie nights will be held outside on the AHS lawn. The movie will start at sundown. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join the fun! (In the event of rain, the movie will be shown inside the AHS Auditorium).

Unplugged at the Grove
Thursday, July 18 | at 8 p.m. | Shady Grove, 1624 Barton Springs Rd.
Join Austin City Limits Radio in celebrating 26 years of ACL Radio’s Unplugged at the Grove with free live music every Thursday evening at the iconic Shady Grove on Barton Springs Road! It’s 23 consecutive weeks of the best live music, food, and fun you’ll experience under the clear, warm skies of Austin, Texas, with absolutely no cover charge! All ages are welcome to attend, and folks 21+ can enjoy $4 Ziegenbocks. The live music kicks off at 8 p.m.

Zilker Summer Musical: The Little Mermaid
Thursday, July 18 | at 8:15 p.m. | Zilker Hillside Theatre, 2206 William Barton Dr.

This splashy musical adventure is sure to have audiences singing along with their favorite Disney songs! Based on the animated 1989 film of the same name, and the classic by Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, our show is about a mermaid who dreams of living in the world above the sea and gives up her voice to find love. The 61st Annual Zilker Summer Musical runs through August 18, Thursday through Sunday evenings.


Cool Summer Nights 2019: Time
Friday, July 19 | from 6 to 9 p.m. | Bullock Museum, 1800 Congress Ave.

The second Cool Summer Nights of the season highlights the many ways in which the American experience has been impacted by inventions, technologies and cultural movements in conjunction with the exhibition WW1 America. Forget about standing outside in the heat of the summer! Come inside to the Bullock Museum for three FREE evenings celebrating culture, community and Texas history.

Gus Garcia Rec Presents Movie Under the Stars: Zootopia
Friday, July 19 | from 8:30 to 10 p.m. | Gus Garcia Recreation Center, 1201 E. Rundberg Ln.

Join Gus Garcia Recreation Center as we host our annual summer Movie Underneath the Stars. Bring your blanket and chairs, and sit back and relax for a night of movies outside. Free popcorn will be available for everyone in attendance. This summers movie will be Disney’s Zootopia. Arrangements will be made to show the movie with Spanish subtitles.
