Tween Time: Collage Art
Monday, January 7 | from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. | Lake Travis Community Library, 1938 Lohmans Crossing
 Tween Time: Collage Art – Artist Bernadette Noll will demonstrate how to make collage fridge magnets using recycled materials. This program for ages 8 to 12 is limited to 30 participants and sign-ups will begin at 4 p.m.

Homeschool Class: Mammals (Lockhart)
Tuesday, January 8 | from 10 to 11:30 a.m. | Lockhart State Park
Lockhart State Park’s homeschool program is a set of outdoor classes designed for homeschool kiddos grades 1-5. Classes are held on the 2nd week of every month, and you can choose between Tuesday at 10 a.m., Wednesday at 2 p.m., or Thursday at 10 a.m. The topic for each month will be unique, so don’t miss out!  Please Note: there will be no Wednesday class session in January. January’s topic is Mammals. Pelts, skulls, tracks, and scat – oh my!  Join us to learn about the critters that live in Lockhart State Park and search for animal evidence along the trails! Students must register onlineto participate in this program. Please register only if you’re sure your student can attend, and if your plans change, please cancel your registration so another child can have that spot.

Homeschool Class: Mad Science

Mad Science will bring unique, hands-on science education directly to you! Come to this interactive program tailored to homeschoolers ages 5 to 10, but open to all.

pFarmer’s Market (Pflugerville)
Tuesday, January 8 | from 3 to 7 p.m. | Heritage Park, 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd., Pflugerville
Are you brave enough to slide into the pfrigid water at Scott Mentzer Pool to kick off your new year? The event lasts until the last brave soul goes down the slide! No, the pool isn’t heated. Pfirst 50 people will receive a pFREE t-shirt. Plus, admission is pFREE with donation of a canned food item given to benefit local pfood banks.

The Sting! Free Comedy Stand Up

Free stand up comedy featuring the best comics Austin has to offer. Avery Moore (Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival), Matt Bearden ( Dudley & Bob w/ Matt on KLBJ), Lea’h Sampson (Hear Me Bitch), Arielle Issac Norman (Gender Fluids Podcast), and Enzo Priesnitz (Funniest Person In Austin 2017).

Come explore nature with a Park Ranger! Every week you will explore a different topic. Each meet will include a brief activity and outdoor play or a short hike-all materials are included. No reservations are required!

Free Sportball Day
Friday, January 11 | at 10:15 & 11 a.m. | North West Recreation Center, 2913 Northland Dr.
Join for a Sportball Class January 11 at the North West Recreation Center! Sportball’s award winning mulit sport program is so much fun! Bring your child to the first day of programs to experience it for yourself. Over the course of a season children will learn the basics of eight different sports in a fun and creative way taught by professional coaches. 10:15 through 11 a.m., 18 months – 2 year old, Parent and child class. Parents get to participate in the class! From 11 to 12 p.m., 3-5 year old Coach and Child class. Parents do not need to participate but can wait outside and watch or run an errand.

How to Train Your Dragon Free Outdoor Screening
Friday, January 11 | from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Community Cinema & Amphitheater, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at our Community First! Village.
Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening. Explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards and cash accepted!). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
