Mondo Gallery Presents Universal Studios Monsters
Jan. 23 to 26 | from 12 to  6 p.m. | Mondo Gallery, 4115 Guadalupe St.
Back to chill and thrill you, the Universal Studios’ Monsters are making their return to the Mondo Gallery. Featuring your favorite classic characters including Frankenstein, Dracula, The Mummy and more, the exhibit will showcase screen-printed posters.

Books and Babies
Monday, Jan. 22 | at 2 p.m. | Twin Oaks Public Library, 1800 S. 5th St.
A lapsit storytime program especially for non-walking babies 0-18 months and their caregivers. Very short stories are interspersed with songs, rhymes, and fingerplays for babies and parents. A brief playtime follows. Program length can vary.

Mega Mutt Monday & Hopslam Ale Release Party
Monday, Jan. 22 | from 6 to 9 p.m. | Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden, 79 Rainey St.
Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden celebrates the beginning of 2018 with its first Mega Mutt Monday. Everyone is invited to stop by, check out dog-friendly vendors, listen to live music and grab sausages and beer. Select food and beverages will be available at happy hour pricing all night. Partial proceeds from the event will go to Austin Pets Alive!

Art Smart Native American Celebration

Celebrate Native American heritage! Enjoy interactive storytelling, a shadow puppet show, dance, music and related arts and crafts. FREE and open to the public.

Class Is In Session with Cupcake

Discover what you didn’t learn in school with Austin’s dirtiest professor, Cupcake, Ph. DD. Mondays at 7 p.m., Austin’s Drag Superstar quizzes you and your classmates with her unique spin on classic trivia. There will be performances, prizes for promising students and punishments for dunces. FREE to play!

Film Art at University Hills: Cleo from 5 to 7
Thursday, Jan. 25 | at 6:30 p.m. | University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Ln.
Watch and discover new films at the Austin Public Library. Refreshments provided. Free and open to the public. This 1962 film is about selfish pop singer Cléo, who has two hours to wait until the results of her biopsy come back. After an ominous tarot card reading, she visits her friends, all of whom fail to give her the emotional support she needs. Wandering around Paris, she finally finds comfort talking with a soldier in a park. On leave from the Algerian War, his troubles put hers in perspective. As they talk and walk, Cléo comes to terms with her selfishness, finding peace before the results come back.

New Year, New Scare Movie
Thursday, Jan. 25 | at 6:30 p.m. | Carver Branch Library, 1161 Angelina St.
Another in the Carver Branch series of B-Movies for the discerning viewer. Popcorn, soda, bottled water, FREE (parking, too). This month they will be screening Attack of the Giant Leeches.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Community Cinema
Friday, Jan. 26 | from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at the Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Get there as early as 6:30 to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Burgers, Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase at our Community Grille (cash & cards accepted). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.

José Parlá Q&A and Opening Reception
Friday, Jan. 26 | from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Robert B. Rowling Hall, 300 W. Martin Luther King Blvd. 
Join Landmarks to celebrate the opening of José Parlá’s monumental mural, Amistad América. His painting transforms a 4,000 square foot wall in the new Rowling B. Hall into a sweeping visual landscape. Events are free and open with registration. Register here.

Concert and Silent Auction
Friday, Jan. 26 | from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Shepherd of the Hills Christian Church, 6909 West Courtyard Dr.
A classical concert of superb musicians, this is a great cultural experience for families, a great way for kids to see other kids and famous musicians. Brooks Whitmore will be joined by soprano, Meredith Ruduski and saxophonist, Dr. Todd Oxford and middle/ high school students for this program.  Featured music will include pieces by Dello Joio, Couperin, Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Piazzolla, and Messiaen.  The evening will also feature a silent auction. Attendance is a freewill donation. All funds benefit children’s education for Regina Mater!
