Barton Springs Polar Bear Splash

It’s the annual Polar Bear Splash at Barton Springs Pool on New Year’s Day! Admission to the pool is FREE all day, starting at 5:00 a.m. Save Our Springs will set up at 9:00 a.m. with our commemorative shirts for sale, and free coffee and donuts! Everything is first come, first serve, (and they will run out fast). So get there early, bring your friends and family to enjoy the inviting 68 degree water, and ring in the new year with the rejuvenating power of Barton Springs. FREE! 

Pfreeze Pflop (Pflugerville)
Monday, Jan. 1 | at 10 a.m. | Scott Mentzer Pool, 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd, Pflugerville
Are you brave enough to slide into the pfrigid water at Scott Mentzer Pool to kick off your new year? The event lasts until the last brave soul goes down the slide! Pfirst 50 people will receive a pfree t-shirt. No, the pool isn’t heated. Admission is FREE with donation of a canned food item to benefit local food banks.

Mozart’s Annual Light Show

Reptile Adventure Show

Community Night at The Thinkery

Make and do together at Community Night. Every Wednesday, The Thinkery stays open late for families to discover new ideas and learn together. Enjoy the exhibits and educational programs facilitated by staff. This week, come for a sneak peak of Go, Dog. Go! The Paramount Theatre will be hosting a very special performance and hands-on making session in preparation for their upcoming performance of Go, Dog. Go! They’ll even be doing a free ticket drawing for one lucky family to win tickets for the performance at Paramount Theater on January 14 at 2 pm. Cost: Admission is by donation only, with a suggested $1 donation.

¡Hola, Hola! Spanish Camp for All Ages is designed to empower parents to read simple Spanish books at home and foster a love of Spanish language and Hispanic culture through singing, traditional circle games, rhythm instruments, puppets, and stories. You do not need to have any Spanish language skills to participate. All skill levels are welcome. Arrive early or stay after class to enjoy the beautiful playground and picnic area just outside the door and make new amigos. FREE!

Community Cinema: Doctor Strange + A Live Magic Show!

Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy a special screening of Doctor Strange, preceded by a special live magic show from Dr. John “MadMan” Maverick. Come as early as 6:30 p.m. to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Burgers, Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash and cards accepted). Concession sales and tips help Community First! friends who will be serving you to earn a modest living income. Plus, stop by the Community Market to check out all the beautiful art and handcrafted products that Community First! residents make in the various micro-enterprise programs at the Village. Jaelyn was born and raised in Kansas, but she got to Texas as soon as she could! After a few years of youthful fun in Dallas, Jaelyn decided to make her passion her career and headed to west Texas to make it happen. There, she honed her musical chops while studying Commercial Music, and then headed straight for Austin to help keep it weird. Once here, she unexpectedly found her soul mate, and loves that her husband and two boys are now her biggest fans! Besides being a musician, Jaelyn also works as a corporate event planner, is a self-proclaimed “celebratory expert” and a long-time foodie.
