Free ATX Youth Summit 2019
Monday, February 18 | from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. | George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, 1165 Angelina St.
The Women in Jazz Association, Inc. and the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department will host the free ATX Youth Summit 2019 at the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center. The Summit is free to the public with snacks and lunch provided. The purpose of the ATX Youth Summit 2018 project is to provide an artistic learning experience for Austin youth between the ages of 7 and 18 by having them participate in the following activities: Dancing with Ashѐ? Arts Austin, Sade Jones, Choreographer, Let’s Make a Film with the Capital City Black Film Festival, A Day with the Bydee Man, Brian Joseph, Make a Brighter Future with Vision Boards, and Singers’ Performance Workshop – Live Music and Karaoke. Register at www.atxyouthsummit19.eventbrite.com

Free Admission to the LBJ Library
Monday, February 18 | from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | LBJ Library and Museum, 2313 Red River St.
The LBJ Presidential Library will be offering free admission to all on Monday, February 18 in celebration of Presidents Day. Stop by and visit anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Veteran’s Memorial Park Open House (Cedar Park)
Monday, February 18 | from 9:30 to 11 a.m. | Veteran’s Memorial Park, 2525 W. New Hope Rd., Cedar Park
This President’s Day, join us at the Veteran’s Memorial Park for a playdate. Younger kids will love the sandbox, while older kids will enjoy climbing on the playscape. This event is an open-house, so feel free to invite friends! Snacks will be provided.

Read With a Ranger
Tuesday, February 19 | from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. | City of Austin Park Rangers, 2105 Andrew Zilker Rd.
You and your children are invited to story time with the Park Rangers. A Ranger will read a nature-based story and follow it up with a hands-on lesson about Leave No Trace and Responsible Recreation! The event will be held indoors if raining, or in the outdoor classroom if it is clear. This program is held every 3rd Tuesday of the month

MEALPAL Launch Party

Nursery Crimes: Edward Gorey’s Morbid Nonsense
Thursday, February 21 | from 7 to 9 p.m. | Harry Ransom Center, 300 W 21st St.
Critics never quite knew what to make of Edward Gorey (1925-2000), the author and illustrator whose darkly droll tales have influenced TimBurton, Lemony Snicket, Alison Bechdel, and Guillermo del Toro. In this illustrated lecture, cultural critic Mark Dery, author of Little, Brown and Company’s “Born to Be Posthumous: The Eccentric Life and Mysterious Genius of Edward Gorey,” explores the obscure influences haunting Gorey’s work. Free and open to the public. Please be aware that the Ransom Center’s Charles Nelson Prothro Theater seats 125. Line forms upon arrival of the first patron, and doors open 30 minutes in advance.

Finding Balance: Conquring Stress and Mastering Sleep

Ant Man and the Wasp Free Outdoor Screening

Princess Power Art Show
Friday, February 22  | from 7 to 10 p.m. | Guzu Gallery. 5000 N Lamar Blvd.
Guzu is proud to announce their second art show of 2019…and this time they are passing the crown and scepter to some of the most bad ass ladies from realms near and far, far away. Royalty from all corners of the pop culture universe are assembling and will soon grace the walls at Guzu Gallery! Over twenty talented artists will pay tribute to a diverse selection of princess characters, via limited edition prints and original artwork. The opening reception will be on Friday, February 22nd from 7 to 10pm and the artwork will remain up through March 24th. All artwork will be available for purchase. As always, admission is free and all ages are welcome!
