Mozart’s Annual Light Show – Monday, December 28 – Friday, January 1. Starts at 6:00 p.m. each evening and replays at the top of every hour until closing (last show at 11 p.m.). Enjoy dazzling lights set to music. See a video here. FREE! Mozart’s Coffee Roasters, 3825 Lake Austin Blvd., Austin.

Alamo Kids Camp: Little Rascals – Monday, December 28 – Thursday, December 31. Alamo Kids Camp now has a “choose-your-own-ticket price” model ranging from $1-$3 per person – you choose the amount. This new model not only allows for tickets to be purchased online, in advance with reserved seating, but also 100% of ticket sales will be donated to local nonprofits helping families. Now, while you’re enjoying some summer movie fun, you’re also helping your local community. Confirm showtime and reserve your tickets here. No children under the age of 3 will be admitted (except on Baby Day, which is Tuesday, when all ages are welcome to attend). Create Your Own: La Belle Artifacts – Wednesday, December 30 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Archaeologists uncovered almost two million artifacts on the ship La Belle. Holiday Model Train Show (Round Rock) – Wednesday, December 30 from Noon to 5:00 p.m. The trains are back! Last year, over 7,000 people visited ArtSpace to see the model train show and local artwork. Austin’s New Year – Thursday, December 31 from 4-10:00 p.m. This annual alcohol-free celebration showcases a variety of art, food trucks, and live music on three stages. Performers include Grupo Fantasma, Golden Dawn Arkestra, Carolyn Wonderland, The Statesboro Revue, Big Cat, Vallejo, KP and the Boom Boom, Shawn Nelson, and Kalu James. Friday

The 20th Annual Black Eyed Pea Run – Friday, January 1 at 8:30 a.m. One year ends and another begins, but the tradition carries on! Kick off 2016 the right way with this updated edition of the annual favorite among the Austin running community. The run is going back to the roads with a new, iconic Austin course including route options from 4 miles to 16 miles (and every even-numbered distance in between). Maps with turn by turn directions will be provided, plus supported water stops on course with the traditional black eyed peas and mimosas as your reward at the finish. Barton Springs Polar Bear Splash – Friday, January 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Save Our Springs (SOS) Alliance hosts this annual event at Barton Springs Pool. Hot coffee and donuts will be served and 2016 commemorative Polar Bear Splash t-shirts will be available for purchase. Everyone is welcome to come, jump, and go throughout the day. Polar Bear Splash (Kyle) – Thursday, January 1 from 1-2:30 p.m. Light snacks and drinks available for purchase. FREE!
