Jeremiah’s Clubhouse 2018 Kick-Off

Jeremiah’s Clubhouse is a three day per week morning program for children ages 1-6.  Imagine getting four activities for the price of one without any of the running around that makes it stressful.  With Jeremiah’s Clubhouse you really can have your cake and eat it too.  Jeremiah’s Clubhouse is packed with amazing activities like Soccer, Yoga, Music, Martial Arts and Gymnastics.  Whether you are dropping your 3-6 year old off or looking for something fun to do with your 1-2 year old, Jeremiah’s Clubhouse is the place for you.  We know that this can be a big commitment, so we are offering you a chance to try Clubhouse for FREE for one week.

Free Demo Class Music Week

Interested in getting to know Music Forever and would like to introduce your family to their fun, engaging, learning-filled curriculum designed for a mixed-age group birth through age 5 and the grown-ups that love them? Then join Heartsong Music for a free demo week at one of  their convenient locations across the greater Austin area! As the attendance of sample classes is very limited, they ask you to reserve your spot as soon as possible and cancel your RSVP immediately if you later realize you cannot attend. Simply go to their Demo Scheduler, click on the ‘Schedule Demo’ button of the sample class of your choice, and follow the instructions.

Buddha Babies Play Group

The Little Yoga House will provide a safe space with age appropriate toys for babies to play with. Special guests will join each week to share different topics related to motherhood, child development and family wellness. This playgroup is for infants up to waddlers (new walkers) and a grownup. Call 512-358-6190 to learn about which presenters will be joining.

Crafternoon
Monday, August 27 | from 13 to 4 p.m. | APL – Southeast Branch, 5803 Nuckols Crossing Rd.
Drop by the library and make a craft while you search for books, movies and music. We’ve got paper crafts, easy sewing and more fun projects for the whole family. We provide the supplies; you provide the creativity. Program length is approximately 1 hour. Free and open to the public.

Practice Yoga Austin YTT Presents Summer At The Springs
Monday, August 27 | from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. | Zilker Park, 2100 Barton Springs Rd.
The tradition of #FreeYoga, #FreeSnacks & #FreeSwim continues for the 6th Annual Summer At The Springs! Practice Yoga Austin’s Teacher Trainers will be leading class every Monday night through August at 7:30 on the Zilker hillside. Post yoga fuel will be provided by Thunderbird Bar, Local Leaf Tea, Kosmic Kombucha, Curcuma, Rhythm Superfoods, Wildway, BE-KIND Snacks and Bento Picnic followed by Free Swim at Barton Springs!

Musical Beginnings Music Together – Mini Session Free Demo

What better way to beat the heat than by joining other parents and children having fun together and supporting your child’s musical development? Musical Beginnings is a Music Together® Program for infants – 5 years old in South Austin with highly trained and passionate teachers (over 19 years of musical experience!). This international early childhood music program is based on the premise that all children are musical and have the same innate ability to learn music as language. At Music Together we believe that music ability is as much a basic life skill as walking and talking and that all children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with pleasure and confidence in the music of their culture.

Pajama Storytime

Feel free to wear pajamas to this family storytime in the evening featuring stories, songs, rhymes, games, crafts, and other activities. Program length can vary. Free and open to the public.

Heartsong Music will be offering a free demonstration class  for families to experience Music Together® Generations and to learn more about this local studio that has been serving families in Austin for over 13 years. Held in a local memory care home, this class is for children ages 0 – 5 years old and the adults who love them.

Bow Wow Reading with Roo the Dog

Certified Austin Dog Alliance volunteer teams with trained therapy dogs will be waiting for kids to read stories to them. This program improves children’s reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog. Open to children of all reading levels.Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Wednesday Farmers’ Market at Mueller

Make Mueller on Wednesdays your fave hang spot with friends or the fam. Perfect for an after work or after school wind down, TFM Mueller on Wed features 50 local food artisans, sustainable farmers and ranchers and craft beverages. Pack a blanket and picnic lakeside! Sip and stroll along Mueller Lake park under the shady trees beside the historic Browning Hangar. Take the kiddos for independent play in our play area, pony rides and other great family fun.

Head out for one of the best free shows in Austin. Some of the top pickers around play a THREE HOUR set at St Elmo every Thursday RAIN or SHINE! Couple that with good beer and hot food, and we have a recipe for a great night. Pet friendly outside.

RC Airshow – ARCA 2018
Friday, August 31 | from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. | Austin Radio Control Association, 8705 Lindell Ln.
This event is a heart-pounding, adrenaline pumping spectator event that is second to none in Texas! All the airplanes flying in this event have wingspans of 7 feet or more! Pilots from all over Texas, and beyond will be tearing up the sky with some of the most incredible realistic radio control airplanes that you will ever see! The Fall Big Bird event is an incredible experience for the family to come see on Friday, August 31, and, the BIG DAY, Saturday, September 1. The fun starts around 10 a.m. but get there earlier and talk to the pilots, see the planes and pick a spot to sit! FREE parking and FREE admission to the public. Concessions will be available for purchase onsite (11-3) with a shaded picnic area, and an air conditioned club house.

PACHANGA!
Friday, August 31 | from 6 to 8 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chaves St.
Michael Crokett, from the KUT show Horizontes will be playing salsa, merengue, and cumbia selections from the Latin music CD collection available at the Austin Public Library.

Torchy’s Tacos Presents E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
Friday, August 31 | at 6:30 p.m.| Mueller Lake Park, 4550 Mueller Blvd.
Torchy’s Tacos will present a free screening of E.T. the Extra Terrestrial at Mueller Lake Park in celebration of their fifth annual Some Like It Hot August Taco of the Month campaign along with Alamo Drafthouse. Here’s what you need to know for this special one-night-only event: Torchy’s Tacos will have their Taco Truck onsite to serve up a selection of Torchy’s menu favorites. This event is free to the public, but it’s BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair). The screening will start at dark (around 8 p.m.) but there will be a pre-show and Torchy’s Tacos surprises starting at 6:30 p.m. This event is on a first come / first serve in regards to seating. The park will fill up so get there early!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off  Free Outdoor Screening
Friday, August 31 | from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screeningGet there early to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
