Fun Arts Exhibit (Cedar Park)

Somewhere between the noble realm of Fine Art and the mighty realm of Illustration, lies a curious little field that is coming to be known as Fun Art. Cedar Park Public Library hosts this Fun Arts Exhibit, proudly sponsored by FunArtsWorld.com and Texas Cartoonists – National Cartoonists Society Texas Chapter.

Faces of Barton Springs: An Interactive Installation Curated by Karen Kocher and Lauren Jaben
Monday, April 30 to Friday, May 4 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | The Historic Barton Springs Bathhouse, 2201 Barton Springs Rd.
Barton Springs Conservancy is pleased to announce the multi-media Faces of Barton Springs. This interactive installation celebrates the many communities who swim at the Springs. It features a photo montage of Barton Springs swimmers from all walks of life ranging from artists and athletes to scientists and spiritual seekers. Visitors are invited to create their own Barton Springs poems on our wall-size magnetic poetry tree, share a personal reflection or memory about Barton Springs on the community kiosk, and pose for a selfie with a life-sized vintage swimmer cut-out. The installation will also feature listening stations showcasing poetry, music, and other Springs-related lore.


Kids Eat Free

Treat the kids without breaking the bank! Receive one free kids meal per $8 adult entrée. Excludes alcohol. Dine-in only.

Dancers Shape Hosts Free Fitness Series Pilates in the Park
Monday, April 30 | from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. | Dancers Shape, 13742 Bee Cave Pkwy.

With the arrival of warmer weather, it’s the perfect time to take your workout outside with Dancers Shape’s free four-week fitness series, Pilates in the Park. Beginning Monday, April 30 and taking place weekly, the studio will host a free mat Pilates class at Bee Cave Central Park next door to their new studio at Hill Country Indoor. Come for one class or all four full body, power-packed classes combining traditional elements of pilates, yoga, and barre into a quick paced flow on the mat.  The classes will focus on functional movement to build strength throughout the core while sculpting the most difficult trouble areas just in time for summer. Guests should bring their own mat, water, and full length towel. The group will meet under the pavilion at the park.

Capitol Rotunda Community Sing

eet in the rotunda of the Texas State Capitol to sing wholeheartedly in the oral tradition of community singing. Simple yet powerful songs are taught call-and-response, creating an open and welcoming environment for all, regardless of singing experience or background. Gifts of the monetary persuasion are graciously accepted to help support our mutual flourishing but are by no means required. Your presence is the greatest gift at all.

Read With a Ranger
Tuesday, May 1 | from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. | Zilker Caretaker Cottage, 2105 Andrew Zilker Rd,

You and your children are invited to story time with the Park Rangers. A Ranger will read a nature-based story and follow it up with a hands-on lesson about Leave No Trace and Responsible Recreation! The event will be held indoors if raining, or in the outdoor classroom if it is clear.

Young Rembrandts Homeschool Program
Tuesday, May 1 | from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. | Lake Travis Community Library, 1938 Lohmans Crossing Rd.
Art education organization Young Rembrandts will help us make beautiful pieces of art. This program is tailored to homeschoolers ages 5 to 10, but is open to all.

Family Night

Pajama Storytime

Feel free to wear pajamas to this family storytime in the evening featuring stories, songs, rhymes, games, crafts, and other activities. Program length can vary. Programs begin on time, for best experience we recommend you do too! Please arrive a few minutes early to gain entrance. Note that in some locations, free tickets (available in the branch on the day of the program) will be required for admittance.

67th National Day of Prayer Texas Capitol Event

Join at
the Texas Capitol rotunda at noon to celebrate the 67th Annual National Day of Prayer with worship, song and prayer. The National Day of Prayer will be observed with thousands of events across America on May 3rd and in all 50 State Capitols. The invocation and benediction will be offered by Pastor Tom Deviney, senior pastor at Bethany United Methodist Church. You will be praying over the Seven Centers of Power: Government, Military, Media, Business, Education, Family, and Church.

Cuddle Up and Read: Infant Storytime

New at the Manchaca Road Branch beginning, the Austin Public Library will be providing our special lap-sit storytime designed for our very youngest library users, infants ages 0-12 months! Join for this sweet, weekly, social, storytime where together we will sing, chant read and play, helping parents and caregivers incorporate early childhood literacy practices into their daily lives.

On Thursday, May 3, Whataburger customers can show their support for the Central Texas Food Bank by enjoying their favorite menu items, and 20 percent of Whataburger’s sales from 6 to 9 p.m. will be donated to the organization. This week’s Kids Create is all about Star Wars! Join for some Star Wars crafts and activities. They will show a few episodes of the show Star Wars Rebels starting at 3:30 p.m. Star Wars Rebels is rated TV-Y7 FV and is recommended for ages 7 to 12.

The Greatest Showman Free Outdoor Screening
Friday, May 4 | from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of  The Greatest Showman. Get there as early as 6:30 to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.

Movies in the Park Cars 3 (Cedar Park)

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy Cars 3 under the stars. Concessions will not be available, but you are welcome to bring a picnic. Glass containers are prohibited. Admission is free.

May the Fourth be with You: Music from the Galactic Empire
Friday, May 4 | from 8 to 9 p.m. | Bethany Lutheran Church
Cinematic Symphony performs, live in concert, John Williams’s music from the Galactic Empire! New episodes means new music. Come enjoy this stellar performance through time and space. This is a FREE concert with amazing sound, cool visuals, and fun trivia. Costumes welcome. Doors open at 7:45 p.m. Not affiliated with the church, but concert will be held in their wonderful sanctuary.
