Somewhere between the noble realm of Fine Art and the mighty realm of Illustration, lies a curious little field that is coming to be known as Fun Art. Cedar Park Public Library hosts this Fun Arts Exhibit, proudly sponsored by FunArtsWorld.com and Texas Cartoonists – National Cartoonists Society Texas Chapter.

Austin Animal Week – Vulture Presentation
Monday, April 16 | from 10 to 10:30 a.m. | Austin Nature and Science Center, 2389 Stratford Dr.

Celebrate Austin Animal Week at the Austin Nature and Science Center! Learn about resident vultures and how they care for them. Meet at the Vulture enclosure. Donations of new, never used items are needed to keep our animals happy and healthy. Please consider bringing in one of more of the following items: Bird seed, Timothy Hay, King Toys, Bird Tops, Scoop-able Cat Litter, Blankets, Pine or Aspen Wood Shavings.

Austin Opera Presents
Monday, April 16 | at 11 a.m. | Yarborough Branch, Austin Public Library, 2200 Hancock Dr.
The Yarborough Branch of the Austin Public Library is excited to host Austin Opera’s Education Department as they present a multimedia program about their upcoming production of Verdi’s La Traviata. They will discuss the cultural and historical context of the opera, as well as share the story, music, and details about the production. Recommended for ages 7-12.

Austin Animal Week – Cockroach Painting

Celebrate Austin Animal Week at the Austin Nature and Science Center! Create art with animals. Watch how cockroach tracks create beautiful artwork.

Senior Art Exhibition (Georgetown)
Tuesday, April 17 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | Southwestern University, Sarofim Fine Arts Gallery, E. Rutersville Rd.
The Sarofim School of Fine Arts will feature works from Annie Elkington ’18, Sonja Lea ’18 and Sofia Payne ’18 as part of the final Senior Art Exhibition of the 2017-2018 academic year. The exhibition will open on April 17 with an artists’ reception occurring on April 19 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The Sarofim Fine Arts Gallery hours are 12 to 5 p.m. All Sarofim Fine Arts Gallery events are free and open to the public.

Audiobook Club @ University Hills

Enjoy the audiobook club at University Hills. Audiobooks provide an additional dimension to books. It’s a great feeling to have a voice guiding you through the story effortlessly, making the book all the more magical, particularly when you hear the author’s own voice. Plus, you can even pick up some techniques for any reading aloud you might do yourself. April 18 book is Ready Player One.

Community Health Fair
Thursday, April 19 | at 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Asian American Resource Center, 8401 Cameron Rd.
Free health resources, screenings and activities for the whole family. This program is a collaboration with Asian American Resource Center – City of Austin,  Asian American Resource Center Nonprofit, and Austin Public Health. Fasting required for blood sugar and cholesterol screenings.

Cuddle Up and Read: Infant Storytime

New at the Manchaca Road Branch beginning, the Austin Public Library will be providing our special lap-sit storytime designed for our very youngest library users, infants ages 0-12 months! Join for this sweet, weekly, social, storytime where together we will sing, chant read and play, helping parents and caregivers incorporate early childhood literacy practices into their daily lives.

Jazz & Art on Main includes live jazz music, food vendors, art and craft booths featuring paintings, mixed media, sculptures, woodwork, glasswork, and handmade items.

Pitch Perfect 3 Free Outdoor Screening
Friday, April 20 | from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of Pitch Perfect 3. Get there as early as 6:30 to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
