Another wonderful Austin weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around town. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.
Friday, October 25 | from 5 to 8 p.m. | Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 N Congress Avenue
Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls welcome at the annual FREE family-friendly Halloween celebration. Join the Bullock Museum in partnership with Girlstart for spooky hands-on STEM fun for the whole family. Plus, explore the Museum’s exhibits after hours at this FREE event. Be one of the first 100 kids in the door at Spooktacular and get a FREE spooky tote bag that’s great for trick-or-treating!
- Spooky Pflix Night
Friday, October 25 | from 5:30 to 10 p.m. | Green Red Barn at Heritage Park, 901 Old Austin Hutto Rd, Pflugerville
Join pfellow Halloween movie pfans at the Green Red Barn at Heritage Park for a night of spooky movies! Hotel Transylvania will be played first, followed by a showing of Hocus Pocus. Dressing up is encouraged! There will be food vendors, including Taco Queen, and the event is BYOB. You can also bring your own snacks, as well as blankets and chairs for the viewing. Admission is pfree, so head over to the Green Red Barn for a night of pfestive pfun!

Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at our Community First! Village.Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening. Come explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards and cash accepted!). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
- Movies Under the Stars: Casper

- Viva la Vida Festival and Parade
Saturday, October 26 | from 12 to 6 p.m. | Congress Avenue
Mexic-Arte Museum’s Viva La Vida Fest is Austin’s largest and longest-running Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festival. The festival features a Grand Procession, the Education Pavilion with hands-on art activities and artist demos, and a celebration with traditional foods, local artist and retail booths, a low-rider exhibition, live music and performances throughout the day. - 8th Annual Kids’ Ball
Saturday, October 26 | from 5 to 8:30 p.m.|Central Market North, 4001 North Lamar
This free, family-friendly Halloween event returns for the seventh year, presented by White Ghost Shivers and Creative Action! All are encouraged to dress up to have a great time, grooving to spooky tunes, making art, playing pretend, and hanging with family! Creative Action will be providing a variety of interactive activities including costume-making, art stations, music and movement exercises, and a photo booth, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. White Ghost Shivers takes the stage from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
- Haunted House & Halloween Movie Night

Join for an unforgettable experience as you walk through the Cat Hollow Pavilion transformed into a Haunted House! Full-on SCARE and kid-friendly experiences available. Free! Hope Alliance will be accepting donations. Families are invited to bring a lawn chair to Cat Hollow Park for an outdoor showing of Casper!
- Fall Folly

- Kid Spa Austin Fall Festival

Join at both the Circle-C Ranch and Avery Ranch locations for Kid Spa’s annual Fall Festival! There will be tons of games and activities for the kiddos, including: Pony Rides and Petting Zoo, Bounce House, Train Ride, Carnival games, Prizes & treats, Crafts, Raffles, Costume Photo Ops, and much more! - Sixth First Annual Polkapocalypse

The SIXTH First Annual POLKAPOCALYPSE! is once again upon us! Four awesome Polka bands will rock the boots off your lederhosen with a crazy mix of Tejano, Czech, German, Polish, Gypsy, and Norteno sounds! Also A COSTUME CONTEST! Come as a MAD POLKA ZOMBIE, A Dia de los Muertos Catrina, a Furry, or your favorite museum employees!! Live the dream! Bring the family and a picnic and chairs if you wish. It’s totally family friendly. Yes, the weather looks terrific. If we need to change (which seems very unlikely) we will announce by Friday afternoon. There is a rain site so the show will go on! There will be food, drinks and ices available and there are lots of restaurants and convenience stores within a couple of hundred yards of the museum if you don’t find what you need here! Coolers are totally allowed, beer alas is not. Bring a shirt and get it printed on site! Parking is available at the Hyde Park Christian Church about 1/8 of a mile east of us on 45th street. There’s also the Fresh Plus parking lot at 43rd & Ave G. FREE!!

- Harvest of Fall Fun! (Marble Falls)

Harvest of Fall Fun runs through November 4, 2018. Parking is FREE. The pumpkins and gourds are individually priced. Admission is FREE, but each activity has a fee. Activities include a hayride, corn maze, scarecrow stuffing, a train, and flower picking, and pumpkin painting just to name a few (seriously, there are a TON of activities for an additional fee). Visit the Sweet Berry Farm website for pricing. Payment by cash or check only. (Check the website for exact directions as GPS isn’t always accurate for this location.)

- Hogeye Festival (Elgin)

The FREE festival features live music and entertainment on three stages, handmade arts and crafts, children’s activities, a children’s costume pet parade, a carnival, Road Hog Car Show, BBQ Pork Cook-Off, In a Pig’s Eye Corn Hole Contest, Hogalicious Dessert Contest, Cow Patty Bingo, the Pearls Before Swine Art Show and great festive food! Free Festival Shuttle available at the Hwy 95 North Park and Ride.
- Halloween Fest (Lockhart)

Join for witch crafts, a special spooky storytime, and a costume contest! Don your costume and come on down to Lockhart State Park! We will have several Halloween-themed crafts for your enjoyment, along with a “spooky” storytime! All participants are encouraged to wear a costume. There will be a costume contest at 2 p.m. with prizes for the winners! All ages welcome. Regular park entrance fees apply ($3/adult, free for children 12 & under).
- Fall Fest (Leander)

The smell of school supplies, college football, Friday night lights and pumpkin spice lattes ….that’s what fall is made of. Fall is an exciting time of year at Manchaca United Methodist Church and we are excited to celebrate this amazing season with you. Dress the kiddos up in their costume and join us for an afternoon/evening of fun games, live music, trunk or treat for the kids, bounce houses and hay ride. On October 27 from 1 to 4 p.m., head down to the Georgetown Square in costume, bring your candy bags and enjoy trunk or treating on Main Street! Boo Bash is a great time for goblins of all ages to take time out to enjoy The Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas and its unique shopping and dining. This is a free event. Boo Bash is sponsored by The Downtown Georgetown Association.
- Trunk or Treat at FUMC Killeen (Killeen)
Sunday, October 27 | from 4 to 6 p.m. | First United Methodist Church, 3501 East Elms Road, Killeen
The annual FUMC Trunk-or-Treat is a free event, open to the community, where children of all ages go from trunk-to-trunk in the church parking lot, collecting candy and enjoying the creatively decorated trunks in a safe, fun, family environment!
