Another wonderful weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around Austin. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

  1. Friday Movie Matinee
    Friday, September 13 | at 3:15 p.m. | Old Quarry Branch

    Join for our Friday Movie Matinee at the Old Quarry Library from 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. Free screening of Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald. This is a free family event.
  2. Movie in the Park
    Friday, September 13 | at 7 p.m. | 1801 Kinney Avenue

    Free family movie outside! September 13th at 7 p.m. Free Food while supplies last. The movie is The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
  3. Aladdin Free Outdoor Screening
    Friday and Saturday, September 13 and 14 | from 7 to 10 p.m. | Community Cinema & Amphitheater, 9301 Hog Eye Road

    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at our Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening. Come explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards only, cash no longer accepted). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated. Donations can be made via donation bucket at the venue.
  4. Peoples RX Health Fair
    Saturday, September 14

    Looking for a wellness reset? Hoping to find a new practitioner? Bring the family Sept. 14 for the first-ever Peoples Rx Health Fair! We’ll be doing free health screenings like zinc, iodine, blood glucose, and more. Our practitioners will give free talks on topics like diabetes, weight loss, and leaky gut. We’ll also have vendors with samples and giveaways, so come see us!
  5. Girl Scout Showcase
    Saturday, September 14 | from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Girl Scouts of Central Texas Kodosky Center, 12012 Park Thirty-Five Circle
    Join for our Girl Scout Showcase on Saturday, September 14th at the Kodosky Service Center in north Austin to experience some of the fun and friendship that Girl Scouts of Central Texas has to offer. This is a come-and-go event jam-packed with activities for girls. Girls can try their hands at some of the cool new Girl Scout badges and the shop will be available with all the Girl Scout essentials and swag! Food trucks will be available for you to purchase lunch. Girls will receive an event patch and the family and non-members are also welcome.
  6. Fortnite Frenzy
    Saturday, September 14

  7. Family Saturday Art Buffet
    Saturday, September 14
    | from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. | The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria, 3809 West 35th Street
    They’ll bring all the materials, you bring your imagination! Make a colorful work of art inspired by Jessica Stockholder and her unusual art-making style. Creative fun for all ages. Workshop free with reservation. Reserve your spot on-line beginning September 1st.
  8. Hill Country Galleria Concert Series
    Saturday, September 14
    | from 7 to 9 p.m. | Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Boulevard
    Hill Country Galleria, premier lifestyle center located west of downtown Austin in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, is excited to announce the return of its Saturday Night Concert Series. Kicking off on September 14 with The Peterson Brothers, this music series will be hosted by Austin City Limits Radio and features local favorites such as Charlie Mars, Bob Schneider, and Fastball, and Guy Forsyth and Jeska Bailey Band. The concerts take place in the Central Plaza and guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to lounge on the grassy lawn during the show. Admission is free and dogs are welcome. 
  9. 22nd Birthday Bombazo and Talent Show
    Sunday, September 15 | from 2 to 5 p.m. | Puerto Rican Cultural Center, 701 Tillery Street

    Bring your picnic chair and join in the dance, music, and games! We will celebrate our 22nd birthday with a gift to the community — a talent show competition! All ages and cultures are welcome! Come dance bomba and plena under the trees. Performances by Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance. Bring the children to help us blow out the candles! More surprises and events to be announced.
  10. Sunday Morning Math Group
    Sunday, September 15 | from 12 to 2 p.m. | Robert Lee Moore Hall, 2515 Speedway

    The Sunday Morning Math Circle is an outreach event targeted at 6th-12th graders which attempts to supplement math topics that aren’t often covered in traditional math classes. The first meeting of the fall will be in room 5.104 of Robert Lee Moore Hall on the campus of UT on Sunday September 15th, 12-2pm. In this session, we will see the amount of DNA in a strawberry as we appreciate the packaging challenges within cells, explore the topology of DNA, and learn how cells deal with DNA entanglements. There will be free bagels, free pastries, free coffee, and free street parking!
