Weekend Top 10 FREE Events: November 2-4, 2018

Another fantastic weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around Austin. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

Weekend Top 10 FREE Austin Events: November 2-4, 2018

  1. Travis County History Day
    Friday, November 2 | at 10 a.m. | Commissioners Courtroom and Hall of Government, 700 Lavaca St.
    Join for the 11th annual Travis County History Day! Exhibits, food, music, giveaways, and more.
  2. Movies in the Park: Hook
    Friday, November 2 | from 8 to 10 p.m. | Givens Park, 3811 E. 12th St.
    Movies in the Park is a series of free films brought to you by Austin Parks Foundation in partnership with Alamo Drafthouse. This year will be better than ever, with great titles, opportunities to win APF merchandise, and food trucks at every show! Tonight’s film is Hook (PG | 2 hours 22 minutes). Food truck on hand will be mmmpanadas.
  3. I Can Only Imagine W/ Spirit 105.9
    Friday, November 2 |  from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  | Community First Village Community Cinema, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
    Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a free movie night at our Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening presented in partnership with Austin’s own Spirit 105.9. We’re also thrilled to have live music from Jonathan Hunt and his band before the movie begins.  Explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards and cash accepted!). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
  4. AIDS Walk Austin
    Saturday, November 3 |  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  | Republic Square, 422 Guadalupe St.
    The 31st annual AIDS Walk Austin is on Saturday, November 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., returning to the renovated Republic Square in downtown Austin and partnering with the SFC Farmers’ Market. Your support will help raise $240,000 to assist friends, neighbors, and family members in Central Texas affected by HIV and AIDS. Event highlights include a moonslide,  special giveaways for the kiddos, live music by Royal Velvetee, Zumba/Stretch, a beer garden and screwdriver bar, and baby goats!
  5. NorthsideNext: Table of  Thanks
    Saturday, November 3 | from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Domain Northside, Rock Rose Ave.
    Kick off this season of giving on Saturday, November 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Table of Thanks, a community brunch event to raise funds for Central Texas Food Bank. Purchase boxed lunches prepared by Domain NORTHSIDE restaurants such as Bakery Lorraine, Sway, The Grove Wine Bar, Cyclone Anaya’s, Hat Creek Burger Co. and Tarka Indian Kitchen for a suggested donation and enjoy them on communal tables on the NORTHSIDE Lawn.
  6. 5th Annual East Austin Community Festival
    Saturday, November 3| from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. | George Washington Carver Museum, 1165 Angelina St.
    It’s that time again for the 5th Annual East Austin Community Festival! Featuring Kevin Sandbloom and hosted by Element615 with special guests Athrazhur, Edda Jean, The Wooly Vicars, MirageThe Great Muzik, and Dj Such_N _Such. This is a family friendly event and the event is FREE! Enjoy FREE 15 minute yoga sessions, live music, food trucks, community bingo, vegan ice cream, and so much more. There will be vendors for retail therapy, food for your taste buds, and live music. Please make a donation of three or more non-perishable food items.
  7. Dia de los Muertos Celebration: Coco
    Saturday, November 3 | at 11 a.m. | University Hills Branch Library, 4721 Loyola Ln.
    Celebrate Dia de los Muertos with showings of Coco and tasty treats made in mugs! At 11 a.m., watch Coco in English. At 1 p.m., enjoy Ya Gotta Eat!: Love in a Mug where you’ll warm your spirit with comfort food like pizza and brownies made in small portions in mugs and cooked in the microwave. All supplies provided free! Then at 2:30 p.m., watch Coco en Español!
  8. Movie in the Parking Lot
    Saturday, November 3 | from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Trinity Abundant Life Church, 412 Cumberland Rd.
    Watch a movie in the parking lot at Trinity Abundant Life Church! They will have FREE concession type foods. All you have to do is bring your lawn chair’s, blankets and bug spray (just in case). The movie will either be Home Alone or Moana (TBD). They will also be collecting Non-perishable food items for their Community Food Pantry!
  9. H-E-B Free First Sunday
    Sunday, November 4 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 Congress Ave.
    Celebrate American Indian Heritage month through stories, art, and demonstrations highlighting the past, present, and future of native cultures. Enjoy FREE exhibition admission all day during Free First Sundays, held the first Sunday of every month. Families can explore the Story of Texas through three floors of exhibitions that showcase artifacts from around the state.
  10. Electric Lady Bird Launch Party
    Sunday, November 4 | from 12 to 8 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. César Chávez St.
    Celebrate Austin Public Library’s new streaming music platform, Electric Lady Bird, with a day of live music at Central Library. Performances include Laura Mercado-Wright of Conspirare with Amon Taylor, Miss Lavelle White, Los Pinkys, Money Chicha, and Dale Watson!

  • Barton Hill Farm Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch (Bastrop)
    Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4 | from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday | Barton Hill Farm, 1115 Farm To Market 969, Bastrop
    Happening Saturdays and Sundays, September 29 through November 4. The farm is also open on Monday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Head to Barton Hill Farms and make memories with friends and family! They have fun activities for all ages. From taking fall photos and picking out your pumpkin in the pumpkin patch, to getting lost in the corn maze, jumping on the jumping pillow, playing human foosball, corn hole, and more, you are sure to have a great day!
