- KUTX & Mueller Present: Rock the Park, Riders Against The Storm
Friday, May 18 | from 7 to 9:30 p.m. | Mueller Austin, 4550 Mueller Blvd.
Mueller and KUTX are excited to rock the amphitheater at Mueller Lake Park this spring with another round of family friendly concerts curated by KUTX and Spare the Rock, Spoil the Child. The fun starts at 7 p.m. with a kid-friendly act, followed by rock and roll for the grown-ups. Food trucks, fun, and live music on the lake! Face painting runs from 6:30 through 8:30 p.m.
- Paddington 2 Free Outdoor Screening
Friday, May 18 | from 8 to 11 p.m. | The Community Cinema at Community First! Village, 9301 Hog Eye Rd.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes invites you to a FREE movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening of Paddington 2. Get there as early as 6:30 to explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks. Hot dogs, milkshakes, popcorn, candy and drinks will be available for purchase (cash preferred). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
- 2018 Austin Open
Friday, May 18, through Sunday, May 20 | All Day | Krieg Fields, 517 South Pleasant Valley Rd.
The AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, the longest running professional beach volleyball tour in the world, will make its return to Krieg Fields for The Austin Open, May 17 through 20. The four-day competition will feature America’s top professional beach volleyball athletes competing for both the title and prize money. The 2018 Austin Open will be made up of 16 Main Draw teams for men and women- 10 auto entries, two wild cards, four qualifier teams. In addition to watching world-class athletes battle for the podium, attendees can enjoy athlete appearances, interactive activations, a sponsor village, and more- all within the ultimate beach volleyball festival atmosphere! As with all AVP events, general admission is free for everyone.
- Summer Reading Splash
Saturday, May 19 | from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Austin IDS Performing Arts Center, 1500 Barbara Jordan Blvd.
A collaboration between the Austin ISD Libraries, BookPeople, and the Austin Public Library, the 2018 Summer Reading Splash will feature author panels, hands-on activities, book signings, and more for readers in grades 3-6. Dive into summer reading with Kate DiCamillo, the multiple Newbery Medal winning, bestselling author of Raymie Nightingale, Because of Winn Dixie, Flora & Ulysses, The Tale of Despereaux, the Mercy Watson series and more. Other authors include Max Brallier, (The Last Kids on Earth series), Xavier Garza (Maximilian and the Mystery of the Guardian Angel), Lauren Tarshis (I Survived series), Judd Winick (Hilo series), Diana López (Coco: A Story About Music, Shoes, and Family), and more!
- 2nd Annual Festival of Good

Bring a friend and your dog to the Goodnight neighborhood in southeast Austin for the 2nd Annual Festival of Good – a fun, block party-style event celebrating the “good” things of Austin. The family-friendly event will feature over 10 local vendors, offering everything from handmade leather goods to apothecary products to purchase, to dog adoptions and face painting. Attendees can also enjoy local food trucks, visit the Austin Public Library’s Bookmobile, play yard games and listen to live music – all manifesting the live, work, play aspects of the Goodnight community. This family-friendly gathering is free and open to the public and sure to be a fun way to spend a Saturday.
- Royal Tea Party (Pflugerville)

Celebrate the royal wedding with an all-ages tea party. Dress in your finest attire and enjoy a royal story time at 1 pm, followed by tea, a craft, and refreshments. Supplies for DIY fascinators will be provided while supplies last. They’ll have green screen up so you can take photos in front of Buckingham Palace and other English landmarks. All ages are welcome to attend.

While Austin has the title “Live Music Capital of the World,” Band of the Hills brings the joy of live music to Cedar Park and the surrounding area. They perform traditional varieties of music from marches to classical, show tunes to big band and patriotic to seasonal favorites along with other types of music. Join as they celebrate 20 years of music and community.
- Storybook Dance Making at Easton Park

Dance Waterloo is proud to host a six-week Storybook Dance Making program in Easton Park. Children ages 5-10 can join Dance Waterloo in the park for 60 minutes of dancing with mom, dad, grandma, and more. Each class is inspired by a storybook. Dance Waterloo designs each class to incorporate elements of social-emotional learning (SEL) through story time and dance making activities that are fun for both children and adults! Storybook Dance Making is a family dance education program. Guardians are required to participate with children.
- Anthropos Arts 20th Real World Music Showcase

Anthropos Arts is celebrating 20 years of connecting low-income youth with professional musicians and cultivating confidence, integrity and life skills through musical education and mentorship. To celebrate, the organization is hosting its annual musical extravaganza, the Real World Music Showcase, featuring students alongside their mentors – some of the best and most noted musicians in Austin. Joining for an evening of music will also be Anthropos alumni from the last two decades who have moved on to become successful in the music industry. This year’s showcase will include tunes from across the globe including selections from Cuba, Iran, Nigeria, Mexico, India and the US. Admission is free at the door but donations are welcome. All proceeds will benefit Anthropos Arts students.

The Old Town Street Festival, one of Central Texas’ most popular events, is a fun festival held each spring in downtown Leander’s charming Old Town District.
