Another fantastic weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around Austin. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

  1. Chuck Wagon Breakfast with Frost Bank (Cedar Park)
    Friday, March 22 | from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. | Frost’s Cedar Park Financial Center, 1450 E. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park
    Frost invites the community to welcome the return of Rodeo Austin by coming into Frost’s Cedar Park Financial Center for an old-fashion Chuck Wagon Breakfast. The wagon pulls in at 7:30 a.m., and it will be serving up sausage, bacon, eggs, biscuits & gravy, peach cobbler, coffee and juice until 9:30 a.m. A fiddler will perform live music. This event is free and open to the public. The Chuck Wagon Breakfasts are an annual tradition at Frost, where dedication to the community has been part of the culture since the company began in 1868.
  2. Spring Break at The Bullock – FINAL DAY!
    Friday, March 22 | from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Bullock Texas State History Museum, 1800 Congress Ave.
    Spend your Spring Break at the Bullock! Enjoy a variety of hands-on activities perfect for kids and their adult companions. Drop in anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday – Friday. All programs are FREE for members or with exhibit admission. Friday: Fly High. Experience special exhibit Texas From Above in a whole new way as you sit in the pilot’s sear of a Redbird Flight Simulator. Age limit of 8 years old and up applies. Younger children can take flight with an age appropriate accompanying activity.
  3. Girl Advocacy Day
    Friday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. | 1100 Congress Ave.
    Girl Advocacy Day inspires youth in grades 6-12 to be civically engaged and helps them develop their unique voice to advocate for themselves and their community. This day-long event will include a training on the power of advocacy, a review of the legislative process, interactive programming exploring issues that impact girls in our state, and the opportunity to connect with relatable role models who serve as state legislators. For youth of all genders. Participate in this free and inspiring day of learning and leadership.   4. Asian Eats ATX Night Market
    Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 | from 6 to 10 p.m. |St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store, 901 W. Braker Ln.
    The night market is organized as a walk through Asia, starting in the middle east, through south and southeast Asia and ending in east Asia. Although food will be the highlight, there will be vendors selling products and a Bollywood and K-Pop dance-alongs on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
  5. Blair Woods Family Nature Day
    Saturday, March 23 | from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.  | Blair Woods Sanctuary, 5401 E. MLK Jr. Blvd.
    Join Travis Audubon for a morning of educational activities at Blair Woods Sanctuary, a natural oasis in east Austin! This Nature Day will be all about celebrating urban birds, so come prepared to learn about the birds you can see around Austin! Snacks and water will be provided, and every guest has a chance to win a Travis Audubon prize package! This event is free and open to the public. This is a weather-dependent event, so if there is rain Saturday morning check out this page for the event status.
  6. 4th Annual Kite Festival (Dripping Springs)
    Saturday, March 23 | from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. | Treaty Oak Distilling, 16604 Fitzhugh Rd., Dripping Springs
    Treaty Oak Distilling is flying high about hosting its 4th Annual Kite Festival. Kites of all sizes, shapes, and colors will be lifted into the air in celebration of spring, delicious food, and of course, hand-crafted Red Handed/Ghost Hill Whiskey and Waterloo Gin. The family-friendly event also features face painters, snow cones and non-alcoholic drink offerings. World Wide Kites will be on-site for those who don’t have a kite to fly. Treaty Oak will donate a portion of the festival’s proceeds to #WillPower.
  7. Spring Bark
    Saturday, March 23 | from 12 to 4 p.m. | Austin Animal Center, 7201 Levander Loop
    Looking for something to do with the kiddos during Spring Break? Then come to Spring Bark!
    Spring Bark is a kid-friendly resource fair that will introduce you to the pet-related and non-pet related resources that our community offers! Meet the Animal Protection Officers, Pet Resource Specialists, the Orange Dot Crew, Classic Canines and more! They’ll also have Austin Police Officers from the SWAT team, the Austin Fire Department, 311, the Austin Public Library, EMS, Austin Public Health and Bark Rangers here, as well as lots of activities for kids!
  8. A Celebration of Song: Songwriter’s in Concert
    Saturday, March 23 | from 1 to 3 p.m. | APL – Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez St.
    Home Street Music and Austin Public Library present three acclaimed songwriters performing their songs for the public: Dustin Welch, Vanessa Lively, and Kalu James. Erin Ivey will emcee and Richard Devore and Friends will open the concert. Home Street Music is an Austin nonprofit that empowers people who have experienced homelessness by building community, restoring confidence, and reclaiming dignity through the healing power of song.
  9. Magical Market at Docs Drive In Theatre (Buda)
    Saturday and Sunday, March 23 and 24 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | Docs Drive In Theatre, 1540 Satterwhite Rd., Buda
    Join at this Harry Potter themed Magical Marketplace at Docs Drive In Theatre In Buda! The marketplace will feature dozens of local vendors, food and drinks inspired by the movies, and tons more. The marketplace is free, but tickets to the Harry Potter movies in the evening can be purchased online.
  10. 4th Sunday Austin Flea
    Sunday, March 24 | from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Fareground at 111, 111 Congress Ave,
    This new monthly partnership pairs a fabulous venue that hosts so many delicious eateries – and now the Austin Flea on the 4th Sunday of each month! The Flea features all local handmade items and vintage wares from some of Austin’s most amazing and talented vendors. Find one-of-a-kind gifts any occasion including jewelry, bath/body products, vintage, original artwork, paper goods, textiles and so much more! Entrance to the event is free and open to all ages!
