Another wonderful Austin weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around town. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

  1. Park Days – Elizabeth M Milburn Community Park (Cedar Park)
    Friday, January 10 | from 1 to 3 p.m. | Elizabeth M Milburn Community Park, 1901 Sun Chase Boulevard, Cedar Park

    Fun play date at a local park on Fridays between 1 to 3 p.m. Parks vary each week. All ages welcome.
  2. The Little Gym Community Night
    Friday, January 10 | from 5:30 to 7 p.m. | The Little Gym
    of South Austin, 2716 West William Cannon
    Join for the monthly Community Night. This FREE event is open to all current Members and Non-Members. Bring your friends, family members, and join for open gym time and a preview into some of The Little Gym Serious Fun music directive activities and games. Every child must be accompanied by a parent in the gym, and instructors will be available to help with skills and spotting. This month, during Community Night they will have a representative from IDEA Public Schools available to talk with you and answer your questions regarding your child’s education! RSVP TODAY and stop by anytime between 5:30 and 7 p.m. for some serious fun!
  3. Friday Night Bluegrass
    Friday, January 10 | from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. | Jester King

    Jester King Brewery has partnered with the Central Texas Bluegrass Association to feature some of the most talented bluegrass musicians in central Texas every Friday night from 6:30 to 9:30pm in our Jester King pole barn! Jester King is a fun, friendly, quality place for our local community, and we’re pleased to pair our food and drink with some excellent music every Friday night. Free and open to all ages!
  4. Drawing Salon at the Ney
    Saturday, January 11 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Elisabet Ney
    Museum, 304 East 44th Street
    Once again, The Ney is offering the beloved weekly Drawing Salons every Saturday morning in January from 10 a.m. to noon! Sketch Elisabet’s magnificent sculptures as your models, in her own studio! Or capture the textures of plaster, marble, limestone, wood, and more. Each session is hosted by our Museum Educators, and all of the required materials will be provided. Participation is free and open to everyone, regardless of age or level of experience! No RSVP is required!
  5. Tech Familia – Virtual Reality
    Saturday, January 11 | from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | APL – Ruiz Branch, 1600 Grove Boulevard
    The Ruiz Branch of the Austin Public Library and Latinitas are providing a series of technology-based workshops for the whole family to enjoy. Engage in using 21st century technology through hands on, fun activities such as Virtual Reality, Robotics, Animation, 3D Printing, and Drones!

  6. Family Saturdays: Twisty Totems

    Squeeze, squish, swirl! Knead different colors together to concoct your own vibrant clay, then mold it into a new kind of creature during this workshop inspired by Cameron Jamie’s towering totem, hidden on the lower grounds of Laguna Gloria.Creative fun for all ages.  Workshop free with reservation.   7. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity
    Saturday, January 11 | from 2 to 6 p.m. | Mueller Lake Park, 4550 Mueller Boulevard
    All Austinities are invited to the 28th Grand Finale of Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity that will take place on January 11 at the Amphitheater at Mueller Lake Park. This family friendly, free-entry will offer live music featuring a brass band Blowcomotion, a rock band The Planet Texas, and a Polish artist Amy Maniak. They will also have free yoga classes, book-swap, art and crafts vendors, interesting auctions, CPR classes, and much more. All funds raised will be transferred to finance the purchase of medical equipment for pediatric surgery and subsequent treatment in Poland.

    Monthly Family Days are designed for families and friends to explore and create. On the second Sunday of each month, we feature a line-up of activities for families to enjoy.   10. Annual Free Day of Fitness and Pilates
    Sunday, January 12 | from 1 to 4:30 p.m. | Ballet Austin Butler Center for Dance and Fitness, 501 West 3rd Street
