Another wonderful Austin weekend is here and there are so many great things to do in and around town! Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.

1. Friday Movie Matinee
Friday, February 7 | From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. | Austin Public Library – Old Quarry Branch, 7051 Village Center Drive
The Old Quarry Library, will be screening Aladdin (2019). A live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1992 animated film of the same name, which itself is based on the eponymous tale from One Thousand and One Nights. This is a free family event.

Free Fun In Austin continues to highlight Austin area locations and activities that may not be available at this time. 2. Caves, Wildlands and Groundwater of Kyle (Kyle)
Friday, February 7|From 4:30 to 6 p.m.| Kyle Public Library, 550 Scott Street, Kyle
Join The Austin Wildland Conservation Division and Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District for a family friendly event featuring a crawl-through cave exhibit, a movie screening about protecting Wildlands for water in Hays county, an augmented reality experience, and more!

3. Be My Valentine: A Family Event
Friday, February 7 | From 6 to 8 p.m.| Southeast Branch Library, 5803 Nuckols Crossing Road

Families are invited to put on their fanciest outfits and spend the night dancing with their loved ones! Light snacks and a photo station are also part of the fun, and little ones are welcome to enjoy crafts in a separate area.

4. Camp Gladiator FREE Bootcamp at Hill Country Galleria
Saturday, February 8 | From 9 to 10 a.m.| Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Boulevard
FREE community workout with Camp Gladiator! This boot camp type workout will take place on the Central Plaza lawn and is open to anyone over the age of 14. It’s recommended to bring water, a towel, and yoga mat to make the workout more enjoyable. Sweat it out at this FREE event.

5. Trio of the Arts For Valentine’s Day
Saturday, February 8 | From 12 to 4:30 p.m.| Art for the People, 1711 South 1st Street
Art for the People is celebrating their building makeover and two new exhibitions by throwing a shopping pop-up party. There will be three different disciples of art popping up; baking, jewelry, and visual art. Don’t miss out!

6. Crafturday: Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Cards
Saturday, February 8 | From 12 to 2 p.m.| Austin Public Library – Cepeda Branch, 651 North Pleasant Valley Road
Crafturday is a FREE monthly arts and crafts workshop held at the Cepeda Branch of the Austin Public Library. All ages welcome and all materials provided.

7. Pirate for a Day at Southwestern University (Georgetown)
Saturday, February 8 | From 1 to 5 p.m.| Southwestern University, 1001 East University Avenue, Georgetown

You and your family are invited to Southwestern University to be a Pirate for a Day. Campus is open to the community for an afternoon of FREE lifelong learning for Pirates of all ages (toddlers to teens). View the schedule and register for free here.

8. Antonelli’s Cheese 10 Year Anniversary Celebration
Saturday, February 8 | 5 p.m.| Easy Tiger at the Linc, 6406 North Interstate 35 Frontage Road
Happy Anniversary, Antonelli’s Cheese Shop! Join in for a specialty cheese pairing menu while supplies last. Antonelli’s expert cheesemongers have chosen a variety of cheese, all paired with our artisan breads and selections from the bar.

9. Burn and Brunch with [solidcore] + The Soup Peddler
Sunday, February 9 | From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. | 2nd Street District, 204 Colorado Street

10. Black History Month Event: Scrap-Booking Family Photos
Sunday, February 9 | From 3 to 5 p.m.| Austin Public Library – Little Walnut Creek Branch, 835 West Rundberg Lane

A heritage scrapbook album is a wonderful way to document your family’s history and create a lasting gift for future generations.  A scrapbook is the perfect place to showcase and protect your precious family photos, heirlooms, and memories.  Come to the library and learn how to start your scrap-booking and create a scrapbook page on canvas that you get to keep. Bring your pictures and we will make copies that can be used for this craft.
