  1. Free Tuesdays at The Contemporary Austin – Tuesday, December 30. Visit Laguna Gloria (3809 West 35th St) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and The Jones Center (700 Congress Ave) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. FREE! 
  2. Austin’s New Year – Wednesday, December 31 from 5-10:30 p.m. Austin’s New Year (ANY) is an annual FREE event where Austin families can come together downtown to welcome the New Year! ANY is an alcohol-free celebration showcasing Austin’s diverse and talented creative community through art, films, and live music. Kids and adults alike won’t want to miss the exciting fireworks finale! Butler Park, 1000 Barton Springs Rd, Austin. **Update: Postponed due to expected inclement weather.**
  3. The 20th Annual Black Eyed Pea Run – Thursday, January 1 at 9:00 a.m. One year ends and another begins, but the tradition carries on! Kick off 2015 with this annual favorite among the Austin running community. Now in its 20th year, this ritual has taken on many incarnations but the important things remain the same: 13.1 miles, post-run black eyed peas, coffee, mimosas, and a morning shared with runners from all corners of our city. FREE and open to all who are awake!   4. New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim – Thursday, January 1 at 9:00 a.m. Save Our Springs (SOS) Alliance hosts this annual event at Barton Springs Pool. Hot coffee and donuts will be served and 2015 commemorative Polar Bear Splash t-shirts will be available for purchase. Don’t forget your warm clothes for when you get out. FREE! Barton Springs Pool, Zilker Park, Austin. Update: The setup time (for coffee) has changed to 10 a.m. but you can still jump at 9 a.m. if you like.
  5. Minor Mishap Marching Band’s New Year’s Day Parade – Thursday, January 1 at 2:00 p.m. Start the year with music and community, dancing and joy. Check the Facebook event page for weather updates before heading out.  If it is too cold and rainy, the parade will be canceled.  Doug Sahm Hill, Butler Park, 1000 Barton Springs Rd, Austin.
