Another wonderful Austin weekend is here, and there are so many great things to do in and around town. Here are the top 10 FREE Austin events happening this weekend.
- Waterloo Greenway’s Creek Show
Friday through Sunday, November 15 through 17 | from 6 to 10 p.m. | Downtown Austin, Between 9th and 12th Streets
Austin’s signature fall event is back! Waterloo Greenway Conservancy’s 6th Annual Creek Show takes place November 7 through November 17 and runs from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly. On display between 9th and 12th streets, you don’t want to miss this free event featuring light-based art that attracted more than 50,000 visitors last year!This year’s installations include Aurora by 1909B, Downstream Upcycle by Design Workshop, The Ghost Boat by Nelsen Partners, Light House by Norma Sunny, m e a n d e r by frankev, and String Theory by Boka Powell. Mobile Loaves & Fishes and Tarrytown United Methodist Church invite you to a free movie night at Community First! Village. Grab chairs and a blanket, bring family and friends, and enjoy this special screening. Explore Community First! Village, pick your spot, and enjoy your favorite movie snacks from the Community Grille. Burgers, french fries, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase (cards only, cash no longer accepted). The event is free, however a $5 donation would be highly appreciated.
- Santa’s Wonderland
Saturday, November 16, and Sunday, November 17 | from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. | Bass Pro Shop, 200 Bass Pro Drive, Round Rock & Cabela’s, 15570 South Interstate 35 Frontage Road, Buda
Santa’s Wonderland is the ultimate free family Christmas event. The magic returns to Bass Pro Shops and Austin-area families are invited to enjoy this enchanting Christmas village offering FREE 4×6 studio-quality photos with Santa and free family holiday activities including fun crafts and games. Features include rustic Christmas cabins, holiday characters and live elves set amongst a dazzling backdrop of snow-covered hills and illuminated Christmas trees. The Santa’s Wonderland Christmas village offers remote control trucks, laser/ foam toy arcade, Lincoln Logs building area and much more. Kids can also enjoy free crafts, coloring stations and write a letter to Santa.
- Asia Story Time: Indonesia

Explore Indonesian culture through storytelling, play, and craft making! Featuring the books Kancil and the Crocodiles by Noreha Yussof Day & Britta Teckentrup and Go To Sleep, Gecko!: A Balinese Folktale by Margaret Read MacDonald & Geraldo Valerio. Recommended for ages 3 to 7. Free with RSVP!
- Chalk of the Town
Saturday, November 16 | from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | St. John Branch Austin Public Library, 7500 Blessing Avenue
Enjoy live art created by local artists and Austin Public Library staff as well as chalk crafts for the whole family. On-site gallery will follow as part of the EAST Austin Studio Tour. All ages are welcome.
- Mondo Presents “It’s An Art Show, Charlie Brown”!
Saturday, November 16, and Sunday, November 17 | from 12 to 6 p.m. | Mondo Gallery, 4115 Guadalupe Street
“It’s An Art Show, Charlie Brown” celebrates the PEANUTS characters with 16 iconic PEANUTS panels and strips by the legendary creator Charles M. Schulz produced as screenprinted posters. In addition to these incredible screenprinted posters, the gallery will also host a pop-up shop from kindred spirits Super7, who will be on hand with an awesome assortment of officially licensed PEANUTS collectibles. The show kicks off a year of celebrations for the brand’s big anniversary – October 2, 2020 will mark 70 years since the first PEANUTS strip appeared in seven American newspapers. This event is FREE and open to the public.
- Celis Fam Jam

We have so many musically talented Celis team members that we thought what a great way to give Thanks & celebrate our Brewery Family – live music festival. Five bands playing live starting at 4 p.m. Free to attend. Plus, Dubbel Coffee Porter releases on this day.
- Cars and Coffee Austin
Sunday, November 17 | from 7 to 11 a.m. | Circuit of the Americas, 9201 Circuit of the Americas Boulevard
Central Texas’ biggest gathering of auto enthusiasts has found a new home at Circuit of The Americas! CARS & COFFEE AUSTIN is taking over Lot A for a monthly pop-up car show for the entire family. A portion of November’s proceeds will be donated to a nonprofit organization to assist their ongoing mission. Admission to CARS & COFFEE is free! Free parking available in orange non-show sections in lot A. Leashed dogs welcome. Rain or shine event.
- U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Visits Georgetown
Sunday, November 17 | from 2 to 5 p.m. | Visit Georgetown, 103 West 7th Street, Georgetown
The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree will make a stop in Georgetown on Nov. 17 on its way to Washington, D.C., from Carson National Forest in New Mexico. The tree will arrive and be parked on Main Street between Seventh and Eighth streets between 4 and 5 p.m. To celebrate, the City is hosting U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Day in Georgetown on the Square from 2-5 p.m. During the event, visitors will be able to meet Santa Claus and his two reindeer with his antique sleigh, participate in children’s crafts, purchase U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree merchandise and Georgetown collectible ornaments. Guests will be able to take their own photos with reindeer for $10. The event is free to attend.
