Springwoods Park, located just east of 183 on Anderson Mill Road, is a beautiful shady spot for kids to play. There is plenty to do with two playgrounds, several picnic areas, a volleyball court, two tennis courts, two athletics fields, and hike-and-bike trails. Everything is located a short walk from the parking lot and the restrooms are clean and accessible. My three-year-old son had a great time at the park today, making “sand angels” in the volleyball court and climbing the fake rock walls on the larger playscape. I wish I had thought to bring his tricycle, as the kids circling the park on their bikes were having a lot of fun. Sand toys and tennis balls would make a park visit more fun, too. But even with no planning, we had a great morning at Springwoods Park!
The City of Austin has temporarily banned public gatherings. Please stay home. The Free Fun in Austin calendar is only for live digital events at this time.
Picnic tables are scattered throughout the park, but you can also rent the covered picnic pavilions. For information on renting the picnic areas, visit the Austin Parks and Recreation website.
