My daughter is finally getting to an age where she likes carrying her own things when we head out for a hike, a swim or just a backyard outing. So we were excited to open our PaddlePaks, made by Trunki — a red lobster called Pinch for Pearl and a gray shark backpack for her little brother.
These “splash-proof pals for any adventure” are great for keeping things dry when it’s wet out, or keeping wet things, like a post-pool swimsuit, from making everything else damp.
It seems like the folks at Trunki have thought of everything: The PaddlePak features a water- and air-tight roll-top closure that Pearl has no trouble unbuckling when she wants to reach inside; reflective strips to make her more visible when wearing her pack; a TrunkiGrip to hold her sunglasses; a small zipped pocket to keep things dry and separate from the rest of the items inside… The shark and whale PaddlePaks even feature pockets for water bottles.
And the PaddlePaks inspire play. All of them are water creatures — a frog, a blowfish, a killer whale… Your little future-marine-biologist will love these packs’ cute features and bright colors. When wearing the shark pack, your kid can even cruise along like a real shark, complete with a dorsal fin on her back!

Catherine A. Morris is a writer as well as a once-and-future teacher, musician, jogger and triathlete living in southwest Austin, Texas. Yes, most of her former passions and pastimes have given way, at least for now, to her current, main passion and pastime: caring for her two kids, toddler Pearl and baby Zephyr. Pearl and Zeph make Catherine and her husband laugh (and cry) on a daily basis, and give Catherine plenty of good reasons to seek out free, fun activities to keep everyone alive, engaged and happy from one moment to the next.
Disclosure: We received two PaddlePaks for free, to give them a try! All opinions are those of the author.
