Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so we’ve rounded up some places in town that are offering free community celebrations of the holiday! Know of more? Metz Springs Recreation Center Community Thanksgiving Dinner
November 15 | from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Metz Rec Center, 2407 Canterbury St
Metz Recreation Center staff and the City of Austin would like to invite all our family, friends, and participants to enjoy a FREE homemade Thanksgiving feast. Vendors and entertainment will also be there. For special assistance utilizing CoA facilities, please call (512)974-3914.

Dove Springs Recreation Center Community Thanksgiving Dinner
November 15 | from 6 to 8 p.m. | Mendez Middle School, 5106 Village Square Dr.
This Community Thanksgiving Dinner is FREE for the public and provided by the City of Austin. Please note that though this is hosted by Dove Springs Recreation Center, this year’s event will be held at Mendez Middle School. For special assistance utilizing CoA facilities, please call (512)974-3914.

A.B. Cantu Pan-American Recreation Center Thanksgiving Dinner
November 17 | from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | 2100 E 3rd St
Join the annual A.B. Cantu/Pan Am Recreation Center Thanksgiving Dinner for music, socializing with your neighbors, and a FREE meal. Doors open at 10 a.m., with dinner served at 11 a.m. For special assistance utilizing CoA facilities, please call (512)974-3914.

Pinnacle of Praise Thanksgiving Luncheon
November 17 | from 1 to 3 p.m. | Pinnacle of Praise, 3200 Sun Rise Rd, Round Rock
Join us for a festive, community-wide fellowship full of friends, family, and fun! Families in need may also request a meal in a bag to be picked up at the event. Registration is required.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service and Celebration
November 18 | service from 4 to 5:30 p.m., reception from 5:40 t0 6:30 p.m. | San Jose Catholic Church, 2435 Oak Crest Ave
FREE, family-friendly, all are welcome. Reception follows the prayer service and all are welcome to bring a dish to share (no pork or shellfish, please label for those with dietary restrictions). For the past 33 years, iACT has had the great joy and privilege of bringing the Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving service to the Austin Community. This is a unique opportunity for Austinites of all faith backgrounds to come together to give thanks as one community.

Turkey Bingo
November 19 | from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. | Gus Garcia Recreation Center, 1201 E Rundberg Ln
Join in on the food and fun as Gus Garcia Rec Center hosts their annual Turkey Bingo! Families can enjoy free hot dogs and drinks, as well as arts and crafts for the little ones. You’ll have the chance to play bingo to win a Thanksgiving dinner basket. H-E-B Feast of Sharing
November 20 | from 4 to 8 p.m. | Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road
Join in the festivities and experience the joy at the annual H‑E‑B Feast of Sharing holiday dinner with turkey and all the trimmings. The Feast of Sharing is the culmination of a year‑round commitment H‑E‑B makes to fighting hunger. In addition to a holiday meal you can enjoy music, arts and crafts, and kids activities‑even an appearance by Santa himself.

Vegetarian Thanksgiving and Potluck
Thursday, November 22 | from 6 to 8 p.m. | Yoga Meditation Group, 13740 Research Blvd., Bldg. T, Unit 3
Join or the annual Vegetarian Potluck Dinner & Meditation. No need to harm animals to feed ourselves and enjoy each other’s company! The dinner starts at 6pm, and you can bring a vegetarian dish if you like (no meat, fish, eggs, gelatin, or lard; milk products are fine). Please also bring your own eating utensils and dishes if you can, just to save on paper and plastic, but no problem if you can’t. Then relax with our Deep Peace Meditation class at 7pm. Operation Turkey Request

To request a meal to be delivered to your home, please fill out the request form. Each meal will contain turkey, stuffing, vegetables, pie, and a drink.

Mt. Olive Thanksgiving Meal
November 22 | from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1800 East 11th St, Austin
Mt. Olive Baptist Church opens its doors to the community for Thanksgiving Day dinner and community fellowship. Dine in or take out — just come by!

2nd Annual Plantsgiving Potluck
November 24 | from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | CRAFT, 4620 East Cesar Chavez
Join ATX Vegans for a post-thanksgiving potluck brunch with all your vegan friends & family in Austin! Last year, CRAFT was so sweet to host us all, and we made so many new friends, that we thought to try it again for year 2 – we’re calling it Plantsgiving! This event is 100% free and we’ll work with all attendees to make sure it’s 100% vegan! Post your recipe here. Bring a friend, a dish to share, chill out with us and meet new friends, water-color a little, maybe watch a movie, but mostly…help us celebrate our amazing plant-based community. RSVP is required for this event, as we’ll be updating and sending instructions through Eventbrite.
Vegan Friendsgiving and Candlelight Kirtan

The Austin Kirtan community is getting together for a delicious Friendsgiving dinner and Magical Candlelit Kirtan ~ Live Music Meditation. We hope you will join us to celebrate, give thanks for our wonderful friendships and share gratitude for the blessings in our lives. There will be a full Plant Based Thanksgiving feast. The event is FREE of charge.
