About Shutter Bugs Photography Classes
With small class sizes—just four students per group—students receive lots of one-on-one assistance and attention from their experienced instructor. Younger kids’ classes (for children ages 5-8 years old) focus on photography basics, including an introduction to the camera as well as fun with Polaroids, costumed photo shoots, and more. Classes for kids ages 9-12 introduce lighting and editing, photo scavenger hunts, collage work. and more. And classes for kids ages 13 and up focus on learning to shoot manually and work with a subject along with studio photography techniques and more.
All classes meet once a week for a full month and have a gallery show at the end of each month to highlight students’ work.

About the Instructor and the Curriculum
Jon Chamberlain has been a photographer for 17 years. After graduating with a BFA in cinematography from Columbia College, he went on to focus solely on photography before becoming a stay-at-home dad. Now he’s launched Shutter Bugs to share his passion for photography with children.
Shutter Bugs focuses on helping kids become familiar with both film and digital cameras as they find their own unique vision. Through guidance and freeform discovery, students explore mixed media, collage work, painting, and film and digital photography as they learn how to translate their vision into images.
