Green Gate Farms invites families to visit for free on Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free Fridays at the Farm offer a morning outing for parents who want to introduce their children to sustainable agriculture.
If you visit on a Friday morning, you can take a self-guided tour of the farm, pet the pigs, and head over to the Children’s Garden next to the big red barn, to play in the Magic Treehouse. Plan to bring along a picnic lunch. The farm has blankets you can borrow. After lunch, be sure to check out the farm stand, which is open every Friday (in season), from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The 2012 season will last until the week before Christmas. Green Gate Farms will be closed in January 2013, as they prepare for the next season.
Families can visit on Fridays with no registration, but if you will be bringing a big group, the farm would appreciate a heads up. You can give them a call at 512-484-2746.
