Laurent Durieux is a celebrated illustrator and graphic artist from Brussels, responsible for some of Mondo’s most memorable works of pop art, including a 2013 poster of JAWS, which also caught the eye of Steven Spielberg. His unique style is immediately recognizable, and spans both classics and modern cinema alike. On display through November 17 during regular gallery hours: Tuesday through Saturday, Noon to 6 p.m. This show is FREE and open to the public.

This year’s show takes place at a new location along Waller Creek, between 9th and 11th streets and will showcase the renovated Symphony Square, the new home of the Conservancy. Creek Show’s new location offers new experiences and exciting opportunities including a concert series in the historic Symphony Square amphitheater, a family activity zone, and the Creek Show Lounge, an exciting place for attendees to relax and engage with interactive activities and learn about the Waller Creek parks project.

The novel is based on the real historical figure, Cathy Williams, a formerly enslaved person and the only woman to ever serve with the legendary Buffalo Soldiers. Hear about the book, the research that went into writing this story and Sarah Bird’s ties to Texas and her own relationship to state’s history.

Big Medium’s East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) is a free, annual, self-guided art event spanning across two weekends in November. EAST provides opportunities for the public to meet the local artists and artisans of Austin in their creative spaces. The 2018 tour includes 585 participants, with 272 Artist Studios, 65 Galleries, 194 Temporary Exhibitions, 44 Happenings, and 10 Libraries. The event takes place over two weekends, November 10 to 11 and 17 to 18, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Celebrating 100 Years of Poland’s Independence

The celebrations of 100 years of Poland’s regained independence include the exhibit of poster art by a renowned Polish artist Ryszard Kaja, from his series  ” Poland” , the performance by a fantastic folk dance group “Wawel” that joins us from Houston, TX, as well as screenings of “The Pianist” and Warsaw 44 portraying a difficult Polish history. All the events take place at the Smith Building (across from museum galleries) , are free and open to the public.
