FREE Thursdays at Blanton Museum of Art

Trinity Street Players presents Our Town

The Pulitzer Prize-winning classic by Thornton Wilder, Our Town, will be playing through May 24, 2015. Journey back to the turn of the century (that’d be two centuries ago) and spend an intimate evening with a small town, wondering whether anyone realizes the value of life while we live it.  The show is FREE and plays at 7:30pm Wednesday-Saturday and 2:30pm on Sunday.  There is even free childcare available during Saturday’s show (reservations required). The Taming of the Shrew at Zilker Hillside Theatre

Come out for art under the stars as the sun sets at Zilker Hillside Theater. This weekend’s performance will be Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. The popular play is a comedy believed to have been written in the mid 15th century. Dogs must be on leash and picnics are allowed (no alcohol). This is the final weekend of the show! Performances are Thursday to Sunday at 8pm. For Thursday’s show, dress in cowboy or cowgirl attire! FREE, but bring $5 for parking. (Zilker Hillside Theater, 2206 William Barton Dr., Austin)

Unplugged at The Grove

Join KGSR at the iconic Shady Grove on Barton Springs Road for one of Austin’s longest running FREE concert series. The live music begins with Alejandro Escovedo at 8pm. Soul Thursdays at the Blackheart

Austin Wine Merchant presents a Wine Tasting

Perhaps one of Austin’s best kept wine secrets, the Austin Wine Merchant offers FREE weekly opportunities to learn about wine. During afternoon tastings, the shop pours anywhere from three to five eclectic wine selections from around the globe. Selections are often focused on a particular brand, country or importer and can range from $8 porch sippers to $100 trophy wines — it all depends on the week’s focus. The Grove Music Series at Southpark Meadows

This week’s Southpark After Dark will feature local solo artist Jimmie Dreams. The FREE concert is from 7-10pm. Pick up a backstage pass savings card and present it to save at participating Southpark Meadows retailers and eateries.  The card is available at Amy’s Ice Creams, Mama Fu’s, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Quiznos, Reel Popcorn, Sport Clips and Waterloo Ice House. Concert Series at Hill Country Galleria

X Games Austin Preview Party at Torchy’s

Torchy’s has partnered with ESPN for an exclusive “World of X Games” preview party and filming event highlighting X Games Austin (hosted June 4 – 7 at Circuit of the Americas). Music Under the Star at the Bullock Museum

Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket or chairs to the Bullock Texas State History Museum every Sunday in May to enjoy FREE concerts. This week is Beto y los Fairlanes, Javier Chaparro and Salud, and Aaron Lack.  All concerts are FREE, family-friendly and highlight local musical talent.
