Free Fun In Austin continues to highlight Austin area locations and activities that may not be available at this time. The Pulitzer Prize-winning classic by Thornton Wilder, Our Town, will be playing May 13-24, 2015. Journey back to the turn of the century (that’d be two centuries ago) and spend an intimate evening with a small town, wondering whether anyone realizes the value of life while we live it.  The show is FREE and plays at 7:30pm Wednesdays-Saturdays and 2:30pm on Sundays.  There is even free childcare available during some shows. (First Baptist Church, 4th Floor, 901 Trinity St, Austin)

The Taming of the Shrew at Zilker Hillside Theatre

Come out for art under the stars as the sun sets at Zilker Hillside Theater. This weekend’s performance will be Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. The popular play is a comedy believed to have been written in the mid 15th century. Dogs must be on leash and picnics are allowed (no alcohol). FREE, but bring $5 for parking. Unplugged at The Grove

Join KGSR at the iconic Shady Grove on Barton Springs Road for one of Austin’s longest running FREE concert series. The live music begins with Alpha Rev at 8pm. Additional parking is available at the Bicycle Sports Shop right down the street at 517 S. Lamar Blvd. (Shady Grove, 1624 Barton Springs Rd, Austin)

Soul Thursdays at the Blackheart

Soul Thursdays at The Blackheart with ROXY ROCA and Mrs. Glass. This dynamite duo of bands is reuniting at the Blackheart this Thursday and serving up lots of booty-shaking and feel good soul starting at 9pm. FREE! (The Blackheart, 86 Rainey Street, Austin)

Hill Country Galleria Wine Walk

Love wine? Then you must check out the Hill Country Galleria’s Wine Walk! Start at Twin Liquors to pick up a map to guide you on the wine walk. Keep your map with you as your ticket for each wine walk stop. Hill Country Galleria shopping bags filled with exclusive offers will also be available to Wine Walk participants. The event is held from 5-9pm. It is FREE, but quantities are limited. Get there early to ensure you have time to visit each stop. (Hill Country Galleria, 12700 Hill Country Blvd, Bee Cave)

The 2nd Annual Barksdale Blues Festival

Benefiting HAAM and Georgetown Animal Outreach, this will be a howlin’ good time with great live music, for both people and their dogs to enjoy! Renegade Craft Fair Austin

Renegade Craft Fair is back and has a new home at Fair Market on Austin’s east side. As always, RCF will feature a thoughtfully curated selection of today’s finest independent Makers. Attendees will partake in an exciting weekend of shopping handmade, participating in DIY workshops, and exploring installations and activities with some of the best indie Makers around. Raising Artists Exhibition by Generous Art

Raising Artists is a professional development program for artists at different stages of their creative pursuits. Generous Art has partnered with Big Medium and the Austin Center for Architecture to produce the Raising Artists Exhibition which includes artists who participated in workshops and mentorships in 2014–2015. The Grove Music Series at Southpark Meadows

This week’s Southpark After Dark will feature Already Gone, an Eagles and Beatles tribute band.
