This July, there are talks on Lyman-alpha blobs (yes, that’s a real term), astronavigation, and the instrumentation at McDonald Observatory. Dustin Davis will talk about some of the largest structures in the universe which emit the Lyman-alpha line. Ilya Beskin will show us how to navigate without Google Maps. Lastly, Gordon Wesley will finish the show by describing the intricate designs that engineers create for the instruments at McDonald Observatory

We are Blood at Blues on the Green

Brewing on the Banger’s Stage

Grab a blanket or some chairs and enjoy a movie under the stars! Georgetown Parks and Recreation hosts films at the soccer fields in San Gabriel Park, located behind the Creative Playscape. This is a free community event. The movie starts at sunset. Hartman Foundation Concerts in the Park

These free ensemble concerts take place at the Hartman Concert Park in front of the Long Center City Terrace, and each Sunday a different ensemble of the ASO will be featured. A variety of music will be performed, from jazz and light classical to pops selections and film scores. Concertgoers are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and blanket and make it a group outing.
