Thursday, January 4

Film Screening: The Secret Life of Lance Letscher
Thursday, January 4 | 6 to 9 p.m. | Austin Central Library, 710 W. Cesar Chavez St., Austin 
The Secret Life of Lance Letscher is a deeply personal and psychological portrait of Austin-based collage artist Lance Letscher. Told through memories of trauma and triumph, the film provides a doorway into Letscher’s profound insights on creativity, the subconscious, work ethic, and spirituality. The film, which premiered at SXSW 2017, will be followed by a discussion with Lance Letscher and the film’s director, Sandra Adair.

Equality Texas Austin January Happy Hour
Thursday, January 4 | 7 to 9 p.m. | Full Circle Bar, 1810 E. 12th St., Austin 
Head over to Full Circle Bar, who has graciously offered happy hour prices and FREE skee-ball from 7 to 9 p.m. Plus, the bar is donating 10% of the bar proceeds to the Equality Texas Foundation. They will also be giving away a pair of tickets to Equality Texas’s Merry Merry Martini Mixer event.

Brixton Comedy Hour

Every month some of the best comics in town head to the Brixton for an hour of jammed pack funny stuff. The parking is easy and the drinks are great and the patio is always warm. Oh, and the show is always FREE, so bring your friends and get your weekend started real early. This month, they have Vanilla Presley – Austin’s favorite comedy rap duo!

FotoATX 2018 Photography in Imagery

FotoATX 2018 Photography in Imagery at the Old Bakery will feature: Dwight Casey feels that color without artistic vision is lifeless; Chris Davis Cina creates emotion through a mood; Pete Holland was e lected Vice President of the South Central chapter of the Photo Marketing Association International in 2005; Roger McBee who celebrates vibrancy of the world around him; David Parsons seeks awe-worthy moments; and Michael Penn Smith a Vision Worker. FotoATX is an Austin festival to highlight local photographers that kicks off on January 5th with this opening reception. The exhibit runs through January 31st.

Join Landmarks for an hour-long, docent-led walking tour of works in the public art collection. Prolific artists like Sol LeWitt and Nancy Rubins often experiment with different media. This tour will examine three-dimensional scultpures and two-dimensional drawings by these two artists in the Landmarks collection. Meet your docent at Nancy Rubins’ Monochrome for Austin on the corner of 24th and Speedway.

Beer Yoga (Beer + Yoga)

Do you like free yoga and Bells Beer? Bells Brewery is hosting a fun yoga class that will benefit the Texas Food Bank. Come for the yoga (or beer) and stay for the party! This is a great way to spend your Sunday and contribute to a great cause! Doors open at 10:30 and yoga begins at 11 a.m. No need to do yoga to participate. Please feel free to bring your donation and enjoy a beer before, during, or after the yoga class.
