Frida Friday ATX: Bidi Bidi Balentines

The Center for Inquiry-Austin presents a FREE event to celebrate the 210th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth. There will be something for everyone—fun learning activities for children and teens, fascinating lectures and trivia contest for adults, professional development credit for teachers, and BIRTHDAY CAKE!! There will be live bats, insects, microscopic organisms, and giant vertebrate paleolithic fossils. Dig for your own fossils and make your own catapult! Science talks for adults and children as well as arts and crafts for young children.

Barbara Jordan Exhibit

To highlight the works of one of the most impactful African-American female leaders in our history, the Barbara Jordan Freedom Foundation will display an interactive exhibit of Barbara Jordan’s life at the Texas Capitol. From Sunday, February 10 to Saturday, February 16, the exhibit will stand on the ground floor of the Texas Capitol Rotunda North Central Gallery. As always, the exhibit is free and open to the public. The displays are created from the archive housed at Texas Southern University, Barbara Jordan’s alma mater, with contributions from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs, where she was a professor for 17 years.

Bazaar Brunch Valentine’s Edition

It’s the first market of 2019. Stop by the Handcrafted and Vintage Market on the lawn at Bouldin Creek Cafe. 17th Annual ATJS Jazz Jam

One of our most popular concerts of the season is our Annual Free Jazz Jam. Last year was so much fun with so many new musicians taking part. If you are a jazz musician and would like to play at the concert, you can sign up at the door or contact us in advance at [email protected] Swing Dancing | Full Bar | Great Menu | Family Friendly. Admission: Free for everyone. Suggested minimum: 2 items, food or drink), 2 dance floors, and ample free parking. The hall holds up to 300 people — lots of room for all!
