The Farm Street Opry: A Country Christmas
The holiday edition of Bastrop’s monthly Farm Street Opry mixes Christmas cheer with live music in A Country Christmas. Featuring local favorites, as well as four-time Academy of Country Music Award winner Tony Booth, and fiddler/singer Sean Orr. The Farm Street Opry: A Country Christmas will be held at the Bastrop Convention & Exhibit Center. While not exactly free, tickets are a steal at just $7.50 (children under 10 are free though). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will kick off at 7 p.m.

Festival of Fun (part 1) – MUSIC is Happening!
Art for the People is celebrating their third anniversary with a two-day Festival of Fun! It all begins with Music is Happening on Friday with Erin & Evan (7 to 10 p.m.) and continues on Saturday (12 to 5 p.m.) with three artists from their current exhibition 3Ps (Pets, People, & Places). FREE admission, though donations at the door are appreciated.

8th Annual Christmas Trail of Life
Head over to Texas Oaks Baptist Church for one of the 30 minute hayride tours through scenes of the life of Christ, starting at the manger. FREE entry and FREE parking!

Craft Crawl: Holiday Edition!
Celebrate the holidays with the Austin Public Library! Leave the kids at home, bring your best girl or guy, crank up the creative imagination and craft with this adults only event at the Carver Branch from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be craft stations, live DJ music, festive drinks, and hors d’oeuvres. This year’s crafts include cardigan clips, succulent gardens, jewelry, candles, quilled ornaments, and more. All supplies provided and all events are FREE!

Intro to Archery
Learn how to shoot like Robin Hood or Katniss Everdeen with a FREE lesson in international style archery!  Participants will learn the basics of this archery style in a safe and fun two hour workshop. Art in Public Places
Art in Public Places, a program of the City of Austin’s Cultural Arts Division of the Economic Development Department, unveils Wander, a new public artwork that offers an immersive choose-your-own-adventure experience throughout downtown Austin. Created by artists Chris Gannon, Chadwick Wood and Brockett Davidson, with contributions from local authors and illustrators, the work comprises a mobile- optimized web app with four unique digital journeys and a sculptural starting point, entitled “Beacon,” sited near the entrance of Austin’s new Central Library. Wander debuts on December 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. at a FREE public celebration at the Central Library.

Japanese Sumingashi Marbling
A free Japanese Sumingashi Marbling hands-on printmaking workshop, funded in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department, will take place on Saturday at the Asian American Resource Center. Artist demonstrations are every 30 minutes from Noon until 3 p.m. while you print. Please RSVP at [email protected]

Christmas at the Movies – Free Symphony Concert
