First Thursday Kick-Off Party at South Congress Hotel

Join the good folks at South Congress Hotel for First Thursday from 5-9pm to kick off summertime in Austin! There will be live music from Mid Century, DJ Dan Gentile (Flying Turns), an interactive photobooth, FREE cans of High Brew Coffee, and plenty of drink specials. Unplugged at the Grove: Carson McHone

This week’s featured musician for KGSR’s Unplugged at the Grove is Carson McHone, starting at 8pm. This is one of Austin’s longest running FREE concert series. Playpen: An Evening of Brand New Comedy

Proud comedy mommas Nikita Redkar and Elizabeth Spears are delighted to welcome the newest bundle of joy in town, Playpen, featuring a bevy of jokes, sketches, characters, and utter debauchery never before seen to the world. They’re challenging some of Austin’s funniest comedians to dig up all the ideas they’ve written in their dream journals, phone notes, or on their shower walls with fallen hair and share them at this make-or-break opportunity before the acts become full fledged superstars. Robert Ellis In-Store at Waterloo Records

Celebrate Robert Ellis’s brand new self-titled album on New West Records with a FREE show at Waterloo Records. The music starts at 5pm and is sponsored by Shiner. “There are traces of Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon on this cohesive work, and the laconic insight that James Taylor offers at his best. Woody’s 1st Annual Summer Stand-Up & Music Series

Get ready to laugh till it hurts with funny man Steve Cox as the evening’s Master of Ceremonies. He’ll welcome to the stage comedians Jared Walls and Ethan Moore. Courtyard Concerts featuring Cody Bryan Band

Lone Star Court continues their 2016 Courtyard Concert Series with a FREE concert featuring Cody Bryan Band, who is sponsored by Dripping Springs Vodka and Gin. Cody Bryan is known for his fresh take on Texas Country Rock. Originally from Texas and now turning industry heads in Nashville, join in for a fun-filled, incredible night of music under the stars starting at 8pm. The Austin Texas Convention and Visitors Bureau, All ATX, and Keller Williams present Barbara Nesbitt this Saturday at The Austin Visitor Center from 1-3pm. Barbara Nesbitt, a Georgia native, has found her home in music. Her life is reflected in the songs she writes which are about the ways, large and small, we abandon and seek that elusive safety of home. She moved to Austin in 2011 and has sung with Willie Nelson, Tim Flannery, Doug Pettibone, and more. She has shared the stage and opened for artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keene, Lisa Loeb, Hootie & The Blowfish, Meredith Brooks, Nickel Creek, Jerry Garcia Band, Keller Williams, and Widespread Panic and many more. H-E-B FREE First Sunday: Museum Anniversary Celebration

Be part of the Bullock Museum’s 15th anniversary in this day-long celebration featuring live music and performances, hands-on activities, and food and drink tastings. Enjoy FREE exhibition admission all day and special family programs from 12-3pm. Featuring live music, games, and activities for the whole family on the Lone Star Plaza. Rosie Flores performs at noon and Don Leady and His Rockin’ Revue performs at 1:45. There will be sweets and treats from H-E-B, a scavenger hunt in the Museum’s exhibitions, costumed interpreters sharing stories of Texas past, and much more. Laugh, Dammit! at The Highball

Austin’s funniest live game show! Comics Pat Dean, Ella Gale, Chris Castles and John Buseman try to make contestants laugh – if they can resist, they win prizes! Laugh, Dammit! is inspired by the classic TV game show “Make Me Laugh!” Host David James drives a rotating panel of talented comics as they do everything they can to make contestants laugh. Contestants are snapped up from the live audience. The show’s Vanna is Avery Moore, and she is joined by announcer Duncan Carson.
