Dale Watson and His Lonestars at The Highball

This is Dale Watson as you’ve NEVER seen him before! Special guests, special costumes, and a swing show you can’t hear anywhere else. Dale Watson’s latest album, Call Me Insane, was recorded in Austin with veteran producer Lloyd Maines (Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker, etc.). The Austin-based honky-tonker carries on in the tradition of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson with his “Ameripolitan” brand of American roots music. Catch this legendary Austin musician for FREE at 8 p.m. (The Highball, 1120 South Lamar Blvd, Austin)

Ali Holder at In-Store at Waterloo Records

For her sophomore EP, Holder once again delves into her darker nature, drawing inspiration from the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Stirring in her own personal and ethereal storytelling alongside moody aesthetics, Holder has created a sparse but atmospheric group of songs. Gunslingers, multiple universes and Huntresses prevail. Huntress Moon was recorded at musician and artist Sam Baker’s prepossessing space in the hill country of Texas. With influences ranging from Outlaw Country to Lilith Fair, KUTX calls Holder “an individual with a love for words and storytelling” The FREE show starts at 5 p.m. (Waterloo Records, 600A North Lamar Boulevard, Austin)

The Disobedience Residency with Emily Bell, Tinnarose, Strange Fiction

Fierce and fiery songstress Emily Bell is back with a ballsy new sound, equal parts garage and future-facing rock ‘n’ roll, capturing both the tension and vulnerability of a millennial woman in front of a shifting backdrop. Known for the rock ‘n soul of her last album In Technicolor (hailing her nods at the 2014 Austin Music Awards, TV and radio appearances and national press coverage), Emily’s jumped ahead with a raucous sound that is at once fresh and raw. The show is FREE and opens at 8 p.m. (Tellers, 607 Trinity Street, Austin)

Love and Chaos at The Saxon Pub

Nestled somewhere between the beauty of love and the turmoil of chaos comes the unique sound from Texas artists and long-time co-collaborators AJ Vallejo & Kendall Beard. The powerful songwriting duo came together to create something new with an undeniable chemistry that carries over into each and every song. Like love and chaos, Kendall and AJ bring different styles to the table and somehow manage to consistently find middle ground as they create beautiful music together. This FREE show starts at 6 p.m. (Saxon Pub, 1320 South Lamar Blvd, Austin)
