Unplugged at The Grove: The Peterson Brothers

Presented by 93.3 KGSR, enjoy FREE live music for 24 consecutive weeks at the iconic Shady Grove for one of Austin’s longest running free concert series. There’s still no cover charge for the best music, food, and fun you’ll experience under the clear, warm skies of Austin! Thursday Night Tightrope at Institution Theater: Short Term Rental

This FREE show is hosted by the improv comedy/horror act Camp sLaughter and features an all-star cast of improvisers being thrown together and forced to play with each other for first time. Tightrope is expanding to include written, stand-up, and fringe performances in addition to the top-notch improvisation, now including opportunities for writers to test out new material, for improv teams and individual improvisers to play, and for experimental acts to have a home for 7 minutes. The good times start at 8:00 p.m. The week’s featured performers are Superflock, The Matriarchy, and Human People. New Moon Masquerade at The Highball

Grab your whole coven and head to the New Moon Masquerade – a magical dance party and fashion show celebrating fresh starts, new partnerships, and the release of The Audacity’s third print issue. Grab some charming books and zines from The Audacity and POMEgranate Magazine and check out witchy vendors who will be happy to read the stars and tell you what your future might hold. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the fashion show starts at 9:00 p.m. Bring some extra cash to enter a raffle for enchanting prizes. The Mavericks FREE In-Store at Waterloo Records

Flashing the same exhilarating, beyond-category style that has defined the Mavericks, the new album introduces a collection of taut, energetic, economical songs sure to be embraced by both original fans of their top-10 albums and hit singles of the ‘90s and a new generation of listeners who have joined the party since their triumphant 2012 reunion. Friday Night Flix: Caddyshack + Shelley King Performance 

Starting at 7:30 p.m., Lone Star Court will be screening the cult classic Caddyshack for FREE. There will also be a $5 burger and soft drink deal available. After the movie, Shelley King hits the stage at 10:00 p.m. The music of Shelley King draws from and blends a spectrum of roots music styles, but one word succinctly describes it: soulful. Eeyore’s Birthday Party

The last Saturday of April marks one of the longest running FREE events in Austin: Eeyore’s Birthday Party. Not only is Eeyore’s Birthday free, but it also helps raise money for local non-profits. The day-long festival begins at 11:00 a.m. and includes live music, food and drink vending to benefit local non-profit organizations, attendees in colorful costumes, and very large drum circles. The festival is named in honor of Eeyore, a character in A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories. Parking is FREE at the state parking garage “E” and Garage “J” on Colorado and Lavaca Streets. No parking is available at the park. Pease Park, 1100 Kingsbury St, Austin.


SpringFest kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with live music and performances, the latest in watercraft at the Boat Expo, tasty craft beers and Texas wines in the BrewHaus and WineStomp (ticket purchase required), and 95+ local and regional artisan vendor booths. Southpark Live: Money Chicha

Experience the new Southpark Live at the Grove inside Southpark Meadows featuring Money Chicha at 7:00 p.m. This FREE event will feature live music, a play area, and restaurant patios with a view. Truth, Lies and Fantasy – A Storytelling Show

Robert Segovia (San Francisco Sketchfest) and Caitlin McNally (Hell Yes Fest) are hosting a new storytelling show called Truth, Lies, and Fantasy. It’s a cool twist on the traditional storytelling show. They take storytellers from all over the Austin music, comedy, and art scenes and have them choose a factual story (Truth), fictional story (Lies), or a fan fiction story (Fantasy) to tell to the audience. KLBJ’s Sunset Concert Series

All summer long, Ernie’s on the Lake will be rocking out with the KLBJ Sunset Concert Series. Starting at 5:00 p.m. they’ll have great live local music as the sun sets over beautiful and FULL Lake Travis. This week’s special guests are Emily Wolfe, Otis The Destroyer, and Cory Reinisch.
