Presented by 93.3 KGSR, enjoy FREE live music for 24 consecutive weeks at the iconic Shady Grove for one of Austin’s longest running free concert series. There’s still no cover charge for the best music, food, and fun you’ll experience under the clear, warm skies of Austin! This FREE show is hosted by the improv comedy/horror act Camp sLaughter and features an all-star cast of improvisers being thrown together and forced to play with each other for first time. Tightrope is expanding to include written, stand-up, and fringe performances in addition to the top-notch improvisation, now including opportunities for writers to test out new material, for improv teams and individual improvisers to play, and for experimental acts to have a home for 7 minutes. The last Saturday of April marks one of the longest running FREE events in Austin: Eeyore’s Birthday Party. Not only is Eeyore’s Birthday free, but it also helps raise money for local non-profits. The day-long festival begins at 11:00 a.m. and includes live music, food and drink vending to benefit local non-profit organizations, attendees in colorful costumes, and very large drum circles. The festival is named in honor of Eeyore, a character in A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories. Parking is FREE at the state parking garage “E” and Garage “J” on Colorado and Lavaca Streets. SpringFest kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with live music and performances, the latest in watercraft at the Boat Expo, tasty craft beers and Texas wines in the BrewHaus and WineStomp (ticket purchase required), and 95+ local and regional artisan vendor booths. Robert Segovia (San Francisco Sketchfest) and Caitlin McNally (Hell Yes Fest) are hosting a new storytelling show called Truth, Lies, and Fantasy. It’s a cool twist on the traditional storytelling show. They take storytellers from all over the Austin music, comedy, and art scenes and have them choose a factual story (Truth), fictional story (Lies), or a fan fiction story (Fantasy) to tell to the audience. All summer long, Ernie’s on the Lake will be rocking out with the KLBJ Sunset Concert Series.
