Free and Cheap Summer Movies in Austin

The weather is still is still pretty great right now, but before long you’ll be looking for a way to spend most of your time indoors in the AC. Here’s a roundup of FREE and cheap summer movies in Austin (and beyond), so you can keep cool for at least a couple of hours. Don’t forget the popcorn!

Alamo Kids Camp
Alamo Drafthouse, locations vary
School is out and that means it’s time for Kids Camp! Kids Camp is an affordable way for families to watch great films together all summer at the Alamo Drafthouse.  Tickets are super cheap ($1-$5) and 100% of ticket sales benefit great local nonprofits. It’s an easy way to teach kids about giving back to the community while enjoying some family fun. Most Kids Camp screenings are ages 3 and up, but some locations are All Ages – please check here for local policies. Regular no talking/texting policies apply and noisy families may be asked to leave. A list of upcoming films can be found here.

Moviehouse & Eatery FREE Summer Kids Camp
8300 N FM 620, Bldg B, Austin
FREE Summer Kids Camp is back! Every Tuesday morning from June 6 – August 22, 2017, you can see a hand-picked family favorite! Tickets are given away starting at 9:00 a.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. Movies begin at 10:00 a.m.

Family Film Festival (Georgetown)
City Lights Schulman Theatre, 420 Wolf Ranch Pkwy, Georgetown
Every Tuesday from June 6 – August 8, 2017. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and shows start at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are 50¢ and seating is limited.

Family Film Festival (Bastrop)
Lost Pines 8 Schulman Theatre, 1600 Chestnut St, Bastrop
Every Tuesday from June 6 – August 8, 2017. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and shows start at 10:00 a.m. Tickets are 50¢ and seating is limited.

Regal Summer Movie Express
Regal Westgate Stadium 11, 4477 S Lamar Blvd, Austin
Regal Gateway Stadium 16, 9700 Stonelake Blvd Austin
Admission to the Summer Movie Express is only $1. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, June 6 – August 2, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. Each week, two movies play on both Tuesday and Wednesday. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Will Rogers Institute.

Cinemark Summer Movie Clubhouse (Round Rock)
2132 N Mays #800, Round Rock
All showtimes are at 10:00 a.m., Monday – Thursday, June 5 – August 10, 2017. $5 for 10 movies or $1 per show. This theater also offers discounted movies for all ages, with ticket prices starting at $1.50.

Southwest Theaters
Lake Creek 7, 13729 Research Blvd, Ste 1500, Austin
All showtimes are at 10:30 a.m., Monday – Thursday, June 5 – August 24, 2017. $1 per show. This theater also offers $2 matinees (before 6:00 p.m.) daily, year-round.
