In honor of Isamu Taniguchi’s Japanese Garden, dedicated to peace in 1969, we will hang 1,000 cranes, symbolic for the event. Learn to fold origami cranes on beautiful Japanese paper, then take one home and leave one for the garden to keep on display until the end of 2019. Challenge yourself and your children with our Japanese Lantern Scavenger Hunt and discover parts of this beautiful garden you’ve never noticed before. Finish your visit by writing a personal message of peace in the Japanese tea house overlooking the skyline of downtown Austin. Come honor the 50th anniversary of this wonderful section of garden by celebrating with the theme it was constructed by.
The Texas Bamboo Festival is the annual fund raiser for the Texas Bamboo Society Chapter of the American Bamboo Society, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.
