Event Details

As part of the three-month public art showcase, New Monuments for New Cities,Waller Creek Conservancywill present Cinema on the Creek in partnership with the Austin Film Society. Three free screenings will be presented at the amphitheater at Symphony Square, home of Waller Creek Conservancy. The films include critically-acclaimed documentaries and short films that explore topics from public housing to ambitious public art. Each screening will also include a discussion panel with community partners.

 

A joint art initiative developed by the High Line Network, New Monuments for New Citiesopened in Austin on March 2 and features the work of 25 artists, five of whom represent Central Texas. Austin is one of five participating North American cities. Artistswere asked to reflect on the role monuments have played in shaping cities in the past and how we might reimagine them in the future.

 

Waller Creek Conservancy has developed a variety of public programs including artist talks,  films screenings, and live music as part of the three-month exhibition. All events are free and open to the public. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.
