Creative Action Community Art Sundays

Free Fun in Austin is proud to sponsor Creative Action Community Art Sundays, a totally FREE and most definitely fun way to spend an afternoon with the family!

Community Art Sundays will be held at the Center for Creative Action once each month from February to May! Each event will include active workshops, interactive art experiences, and performances by professional artists that celebrate community through dance, music, food, gardening, parades, and inventing. These free activities are family friendly and open to all

Community Art Sundays will be held from 1-4 p.m. on the following Sundays:

  • Sunday, February 8, 2015 – Move and groove to the rhythms of the past and celebrate the music of our future. Play in a community drum circle and learn traditional world rhythms, get warm with a dance workshop, discover the music of historical East Austin, share your story about East Austin through Austin’s African American Cultural Heritage District‘s Treasured Places, explore music through an early childhood music class, and treat yourself to a unique performance and Q&A with the Peterson Brothers Band – an Austin music treasure. Workshops and activities are family friendly and open to all.
  • Sunday, March 1, 2015
  • Sunday, April 19, 2015
  • Sunday, May 3, 2015

The Center for Creative Action is located at 2921 E. 17th St. Bldg B (at the MLK Jr. Light Rail Station in East Austin).

Also coming up this weekend is Creative Action’s annual Friend Fest, which will be held at Central Market North. Celebrate friendship at this free, family friendly event on Saturday, February 7, 2015, from 1-3 p.m.

At Friend Fest kids and adults alike can create friendship bracelets, make valentines, decorate cookies, and sample sweet treats! Guests are also invited to enjoy live music, join in a friendship parade, and take advantage of Central Market’s great playscape.

Central Market is located at 4001 North Lamar Blvd in Austin.
