The swimming spot Blue Hole, is tucked into Blue Bole Regional Park in Wimberley, Texas. With the lush park and cool water, you’re bound to have a relaxing swim.

Location and Hours:
Blue Hole is located in Wimberley, Texas, about a 45 minute drive from Austin. The park is appropriately off Blue Hole Lane and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The park is open to the public, though the swimming hole does require reservations. Reservations are in time slots from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
To swim in Blue Hole, you must make a reservation in advance. Swimming fees range from $6 to $10, and no reservation or ticket is necessary for children under three years old. All other amenities within the park are free and do not require a reservation.
The Blue Hole site was previously owned by the John R. Dobie family from 1897 to the 1920s. In the 20s, Blue Hole became a popular spot to swim and the Dobie Family opened it up to the public.
Blue Hole Regional Park is surrounded by 126 acres of natural forests and grass fields. The park offers plenty of space for activities like running, biking, walking, picnics, and more. The swimming hole itself is about three acres.
Blue Hole is adequately name for its beautiful clear, blue water. This spring-fed swimming hole stays a perfect 75 degrees all year round, with giant Cypress trees providing ample shade.
Parking and Amenities:
Plenty of parking is available! After checking in at the front desk, you’ll receive a wristband for each swimmer. There are also plenty of restrooms to change in, as well as a giant outdoor space on the bank to relax on a towel.
This is a great swimming destination for the entire family. The distance from the parking lot to the swimming hole is very short and the path is paved. The swimming hole has a shallow end, making it easy for younger kids to get in and out of the water. In the deeper areas, there are ladders and docks as well. Blue Hole also features a rope swing: one for kiddos, and one for adults.
No dogs, fishing equipment, smoking, alcohol, or glass containers. Tree climbing and jumping is also prohibited. There are no BBQ grills allowed in the swimming area, though there are grills located in other areas of the park for use.
Bring blankets, towels, or chairs to set up a resting area on the banks in the grassy area. Coolers are allowed so feel free to bring a picnic lunch. We also recommend bringing some floats with you, and wearing proper water shoes.
