October was one for the history books and it now seems about time for a little sunshine. November has abundant opportunities for family entertainment at little or no cost to you. There is a lot to be thankful for this month in Austin, so don’t be a turkey, get out on the town with your family and friends to enjoy!

H-E-B Free First Sunday : American Indian Heritage Month
Sunday, November 4 | from 12 to 5 p.m. | Bullock Museum 1800 Congress Ave.
Celebrate American Indian Heritage month through stories, art, and demonstrations highlighting the past, present, and future of native cultures. Join gifted storyteller and educator, Amy Bruton Bluemel, in an interactive story time exploring artifacts and customs of the Chickasaw Nation and of other southeastern tribes.
Savor a seasonal snack provided by Common Threads. Create a colorful patterned armband inspired by American Indians’ use of beads for everyday decorations and on ceremonial garments or objects. Design a medallion to wear around your neck with a symbol that represents yourself or your family. Put together a Three Sisters seed packet of corn, squash, and beans then take home to plant and see how these ‘sister’ plants help each other grow stronger.
Exhibition admission is FREE all day.

Laugh Darn It! Family Comedy Game Show

Austin’s funniest all-ages live game show! The goofiest, funniest Austin comics try to make contestants laugh – if they can resist, they win prizes! Free to play and watch! Laugh, Darn It! is inspired by the classic TV game show ‘Make Me Laugh!’ Host David James drives a rotating panel of talented comics as they do everything they can to make contestants, snapped up from our live audience, laugh. Our laugh judge is Ariel Greenspoon, and she is joined by contestant wrangler Lisa Friedrich. Unless you are one of the show’s longtime fans, you have never seen anything like this before!

Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday; 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Closed all Wednesdays. Parking is FREE. You still have time to catch the last weekend of Fall Fun! The pumpkins and gourds are individually priced. Admission is FREE, but each activity has a fee. Activities include a hayride, corn maze, and pumpkin painting just to name a few. If you’re looking for delicious food and cold drinks, check out our concession stand! We have Lavell’s Lemonade, cold beer, frozen sangria, and other refreshing beverages. We know how easy it is to work up an appetite on the farm, so we also offer 100% all beef hot dogs, 100% angus beef burgers, sno-cones, pulled pork sandwiches, and kettle corn.

Connally High School PTA Holiday Bazaar

Come by to shop for the holidays. There are great deals on a wide variety of gifts and fun items, including ornaments, cards, jewelry, handbags, treats, Christmas decorations, toys, gourmet foods, candles, and so much more. Shoppers can enjoy live performances by Connally student groups and other local talent, snacks, and beverages. Admission and parking is free, and all the proceeds fund student scholarships and other PTA programs. We only have one PTA fundraiser a year. Help us make it a great success. 2018 Creek Show

The free-family event returns November 9-17 for nine-nights of free light-based, site-specific art installations along Waller Creek. This year’s show takes place at a new location along Waller Creek, between 9th and 11th streets and will showcase the renovated Symphony Square, the new home of the Conservancy. Creek Show’s new location offers new experiences and exciting opportunities including a concert series in the historic Symphony Square amphitheater, a family activity zone, and the Creek Show Lounge, an exciting place for attendees to relax and engage with interactive activities and learn about the Waller Creek parks project. Creek Show was designed to surprise and delight audiences of all ages with memorable light-based art installations. Light The Night

Light The Night is a community event for all age groups. Friends, families and corporations gather together to bring Light to the darkness of cancer in a night full of hope, celebration and remembrance. Registration is completely free and all registered participants will receive an illuminated lantern. If you choose, you may fundraise in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission: to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma & Hodgkin’s disease, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. At Light The Night, it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures. Light The Night is a series of fundraising campaigns benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) funding of research to find blood cancer cures. We bring hope instead of despair by working to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients. We bring communities together to celebrate those who are fighting the disease and to honor those we have lost. We are taking steps to end cancer. WE LIGHT THE NIGHT.

Chuy’s Giving To Children Parade
Saturday, November 24 | at 11 a.m. | Starts at the State Capitol at 11th and Congress
Benefiting Operation Blue Santa so Bring New, Unwrapped Toys to Donate! At a designated time during the Parade Procession, all units will stop to collect the toys. Santa’s Helpers will line the parade route and help spectators give their toy. All toys will be distributed by the Operation Blue Santa Program to another child just in time for the holidays. Giant inflatable balloons, festive holiday floats, famous children’s characters, spectacular marching bands, cool classic cars and Santa!
