Ring in the Chinese New Year this week at one of these free local celebrations:

Wednesday, February 18

Money Frogs – From 12:45 – 1:45 p.m., celebrate the Chinese New Year with Ms. Vivian at The Biscuit Brothers’ Fine Arts Farm! Any age is welcome, but parents will have to assist kids under 5 with paper cutting and possibly some folding.  FREE! Fine Arts Farm, 6036 W US HWY 290, Austin.

Thursday, February 19

Imperia Sushi & Lounge – Starting at 7 p.m., Imperia is hosting its seventh annual Chinese New Year celebration. Enjoy complimentary passed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Imperia has a fantastic line up of entertainment, including DJ Entertainment, Imperia’s special house music, and traditional dragon dancers. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and festivities begin at 7 p.m. This is a FREE event and is open to the public. Texas Dragon Dance Team – At 11 a.m., enjoy a Dragon Dance in celebration of the Chinese New Year. All ages welcome. FREE! Wells Branch Library, 15001 Wells Port Dr, Austin.


The Little Yoga House – From 2-4 p.m., enjoy a Lion Dance performance in celebration of the Lunar New Year! This event is FREE and open to everyone. The Little Yoga House will provide snacks and drinks following the performance. Please RSVP here. The Little Yoga House, 1211 Parkway, Austin.

Chinatown Center Celebration – From 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Austin families are invited to celebrate the Chinese New Year with free face-painting, firecracker displays, Dragon and Lion Dance Teams, and more! FREE! Chinatown Center, 10901 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin. 

Sunday, February 22

Austin Chinese Church Chinese School – At 1:30 p.m., the public is invited to see a FREE performance by the Texas Dragon/Lion Dance Team. 11118 Dessau Rd, Austin.
